Kevin McCarthy: House Majority Leader to Introduce Bill to Fully Fund Border Wall

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy will introduce a bill that would (finally) fully fund President Trump’s border wall.

According to an exclusive with Breitbart News, McCarthy’s bill will include $23.4 billion for funding on top of what has already been spent to construct a wall at the southern border.

The new bill has been titled the “Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act,” and is set to take care of a responsibility shirked thus far by Congress.

McCarthy told Breitbart:

“The American people want us to build the wall and enforce the law,” McCarthy said in a statement. “Maintaining strong borders is one of the basic responsibilities of any nation. For too long, America has failed in this responsibility.”

News of the border wall funding attempt comes after a major administration and Republican victory over Democrats in the Brett Kavanaugh smear campaign, and a subsequent emboldening of GOP lawmakers.

The train of victories even prompted the virulently anti-Trump CNN to begrudgingly admit that President Trump is on a roll.

Has that winning streak prompted other Republicans like McCarthy to finally understand that the way to win is to do exactly what they promised voters?

House Speaker Paul Ryan predicted there would be “a big fight” over the border wall, and McCarthy’s bill might be the first punch.

“We intend on having a full-fledged discussion about how to complete this mission of securing our border,” Ryan said, “and we will have a big fight about that.”

McCarthy says he has worked very closely with the President on the issue of securing the border, a campaign platform central to Trump’s election in 2016.

Putting it back on the block could help Republicans in the midterms; most Americans desire a secure border prior to immigration reform.

“We are already building part of the wall now in California,” McCarthy said. “We’ve got to continue that and finish the job.”

That job should have been finished a long time ago.

President Trump has been pressuring the Republican Party to push his border security agenda for years despite opposition from Democrats and the media.

He pressured them to stick with Justice Kavanaugh despite opposition from Democrats and the media – and he won.

Will McCarthy, Ryan, and the rest of the GOP learn this valuable lesson? Trump is far more popular than Congress, so they might want to consider taking his advice. Especially if they plan to defeat this so-called ‘blue wave’ in November.
