Rep. Keith Ellison: Democrats Will Take Back House, Senate in 2018

WASHINGTON, DC - FEBRUARY 28: New DNC Chair, Tom Perez (L) and Deputy Chair and Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) do a television interview in Statuary Hall at the U.S. Capitol before President Donald Trump delivers a speech to a joint session of Congress on February 28, 2017 in Washington, DC. Rep. Keith Ellison lost out on his bid to win the Democrat National Committee chairmanship, but he has also been speaking his mind and making bold predictions based on the ineptness of the Republican leaders who continue to fight against President Trump and his “Make America Great Again” agenda.

The Democrat Party is beyond salvation. They are in trouble, and I think Ellison even knows this. What this is called is a pep rally to try to force people to believe things are going to work out. Hey Keith, look behind you. Do you see any progressives or Bernie people who didn’t get purged by the DNC? No?

You have no power in a make-believe position, Keith. You are window dressing for the DNC, and many of us using common sense see what you’re doing.

From The Hill: “In an interview with The Atlantic published Monday, the lawmaker and deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) said the recent sweep of wins by Democrats in elections nationwide, particularly in governors’ races in Virginia and New Jersey, is a ‘foreshadowing of good things to come’ for the party.”

He continued “A lot of people might have thought it was just exuberance and a sense of optimism, but I believed we could take it back,” referring to the Virginia House of Delegates.

Even more: “We’re in it to win community. If we make people feel that we’ve got their back, and their party is there for them, the election becomes the easy part.”

Democrats thought they could win in 2016, 2014, and 2010. What has changed in the Party to support Keith’s disillusioned opinion on 2018? Exactly nothing.

Keith supported Bernie, but was forced into a meaningless role in the DNC by Hillary super-delegate voters. The Democrat Party is unmoored from reality and without a soul or ideology beyond protecting their rich donors. Hating Trump and fearing Republicans won them nothing in 2016.

I don’t see them winning anything, but stranger things have happened. Remember, Republicans are running around with their heads cut off, so they just might give it to them if push comes to shove.
