Democrats Are Laying Traps For Thursday’s Kavanaugh-Ford Hearing

Christine Blasey Ford is set to testify before Congress Thursday, and Democrat senators are reportedly consulting field “experts,” including legal scholars and scientists, to help buttress her assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

A source inside the Democrat prep team told Axios Tuesday that lawmakers are “consulting experts in such fields as sexual assault victimization and college drinking ahead of Thursday’s hearing.”

Is this a Supreme Court confirmation hearing or a freshman orientation assembly?

“There’s a very active network around the country of experts in this field who are helping people understand the gravity of this and the reality of this,” the source said, adding that Ford is undergoing testimony prep sessions to be sure that she doesn’t “encounter any surprises.”

Furthermore, Brian Fallon, former press secretary to Hillary Clinton and current executive director of liberal advocacy group Demand Justice, said that “Kavanaugh opponents [will] make his character and integrity the central issue heading into the hearing” by invoking past character witnesses who have spoken out against him.

In other words, Democrats aren’t so much interested in proving that the assault happened as they are in committing “last-minute character assassination,” as Kavanaugh put it himself in a letter to the top Republican and Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

He couldn’t be more correct.

These “field experts” that Democrats are consulting are nothing more than a sleight of hand. They cannot prove that Ford is telling the truth; all they can do is compare Kavanaugh to the stereotypical portrayal of a boorish university frat bro. Kavanaugh’s contemporaries have already spoken to the contrary. Why would strangers – these “experts” – know his behavior better than those who were there? Those who were and are his friends?

Despite this coordinated effort, however, Republicans remain confident that they can get the necessary 50 votes to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. If not, it will only give liberals further incentive to ruin opponents’ lives on nothing more than anecdotal – or even entirely fabricated – evidence.
