Back in 2017, the comedian Kathy Griffin made headlines for all the wrong reasons when she posed holding the simulated severed head of the then-President Donald Trump for a photoshoot. Earlier this month, she ran that back on her Instagram page in a truly disturbing way.

Griffin Revives Trump Photo

Griffin recently took to Instagram to share a photoshopped image of prosecutor Jack Smith holding Trump’s severed head. The image was the original 2017 photo with Griffin’s face replaced with Smith’s, while Trump’s is replaced with an image of the former president with a stunned look on his face.

“Finally,” Griffin captioned the image, seemingly celebrating the latest indictment that Smith handed down upon Trump.

Griffin Whines About Photo Backlash

Griffin has long been whining about the impact that the backlash over the original 2017 photo had on both her career and her mental health. In a 2021 interview, Griffin revealed that she battled drug addiction and suicidal thoughts because of this.

“To be told by people in my own industry, ‘It’s over. Leave the country for five years. You’ve shamed our industry,’ on and on and on. It definitely got to me,” she told ABC News at the time. “And so, I got to the point where I kind of agreed. Like, maybe it is time for me to go, and I’ve had a great life, and I don’t think there’s a next chapter for me.”

Earlier this year, Griffin claimed that she was battling an “extreme case” of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

“Let’s talk about PTSD. Never talked about it publicly,” Griffin said in a TikTok video. “You can laugh or whatever, but I’ve been diagnosed with complex PTSD. They call it an extreme case.”

“I’d love to hear from you guys about depression or anxiety…how you cope,” she added. “If any of you know my story, you’ll understand that this really started for me about five and a half years ago. Wink. You know, the cancer didn’t help.”

Griffin was referring to her battle with Stage 1 lung cancer, which she was diagnosed with in 2021. However, she was quick to add that she believes her PTSD stems from the Trump photo backlash.

“I have lots of tools, but it is extremely intense,” Griffin captioned the video. “I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life. If you’re someone who also deals with this, I am sending you lots and lots of #love.”

Griffin Doubles Down

Griffin later doubled down on this on Instagram.

“I feel silly even telling you this because I always thought PTSD was just for veterans and stuff,” she said. “During my attacks, I typically vomit quite a bit and often have to go to the ER just to get IV fluids. Anybody else?”

Back in June, however, Griffin claimed to have a new lease on life.

“I have not vomited in months. I haven’t had to cancel anything because of anxiety,” she said, according to Yahoo News. “I feel like I figuratively lost my comedic voice because of the Trump photo scandal, I literally lost my voice due to the cancer surgery and now I finally have my voice back. I’m a grateful, naughty comedian again!”

Griffin posing with the severed head of Trump continues to be one of the most disturbing examples of Trump derangement syndrome. It’s despicable that she continues to try to play the victim when it comes to that photo, and that she clearly has such little remorse over it that she would dare to post this new version featuring Smith.
