Imagine the outrage had anybody on the right side of the political aisle said something similar about former president Barack Obama or president-in-her-head Hillary Clinton.

Hollywood director Joss Whedon, the man behind the wildly successful Avengers movies, publicly wished President Donald Trump ill. In fact, he wished worse than ill upon him, he wished death.

Whedon posted a Twitter rant in which he urged the President to die, twice.

“Donald Trump is killing this country,” Whedon attacked. “Some of it quickly, some slowly, but he spoils and destroys everything he touches.”

“He emboldens monsters, wielding guns, governmental power, or just smug doublespeak. Or Russia,” he wrote. “My hate and sadness are exhausting. Die, Don. Just quietly die.”

Perhaps the FBI should be looking into Whedon’s death wish as a form of possible projection. You know, just interview him for a few hours like they did with Kathy Griffin, make sure he isn’t about to use his ample resources to make that ‘quiet death’ come a little earlier than expected.

He is, after all, the same man who said Trump must never be able to get in the White House.

Followers on social media were naturally concerned about Whedon’s comments.

This isn’t the first time Whedon has stepped in it with controversial comments about Republicans. He once wished that a rhino would ‘rape’ Speaker Paul Ryan “because it’s funny.”

The mental health crisis in America is a profound thing to see when on full display as it is in Whedon’s case. Somebody needs to intervene before he does something stupid.
