Former New Hampshire Governor John Sununu appeared with CNN’s Alisyn Camerota to discuss the recent passing of Arizona Senator John McCain.
Camerota tried injecting the conversation with various media reports of the still-lingering feud between McCain and President Trump, an overly-manufactured crisis.
Trump seemingly slow-walked his way of adhering to the protocol after McCain’s passing, while the Senator, for his part, issued a statement prior to his death which took clear shots at the President.
Camerota raised the question, “What do you think about President Trump rejecting the practice of putting out an official White House statement about John McCain’s service and sacrifice?”
The exchange that followed was the stuff of legend:
Sununu: “Look, that was printed in The Washington Post, and I have to be honest with you, I don’t give much credence to what I read.”
Camerota: “We also have that reporting.”
Sununu: “Yes, well, same thing applies, Alisyn.”
Somebody call the ‘wahhh’mbulance’ because that surely left a mark.
Before we get to Camerota’s meltdown, it should be noted that Trump did put out an official White House statement and, according to Senator Lindsey Graham, instructed his staff to provide the McCain family with anything they might possibly need.
“The president told (Chief of Staff) John Kelly, whatever they need they get,” Graham told NBC.
“Despite our differences on policy and politics, I respect Senator John McCain’s service to our country,” President Trump said in his official statement.
Now with that out of the way, let’s take a look at Camerota’s dismay over Sununu denigrating her network’s poor reporting.

The multi-second pause after Camerota says “governor” is simply amazing. You can almost hear her teeth grinding while she counts to ten.
“Governor,” she said, “you come on CNN, and we appreciate you coming on CNN and we appreciate your take on it. But I don’t appreciate you denigrating our reporting. We have excellent reporters here.”
She must have missed the ‘excellent’ reporting her network has done regarding a ‘fake news‘ story involving Michael Cohen attorney, Lanny Davis.
“I’m here to talk about John McCain as I remember him,” Sununu shot back at Camerota’s righteous indignation. “I’m not here to talk about the press’s handling of a difference between the White House and the press corps at this time.”
The former governor hasn’t always been a hardcore supporter of President Trump either. Early on in the 2016 campaign cycle, he claimed: “we should not have a reality show star as president of the United States.”
Sununu does, however, have a long history of being a thorn in the side of CNN and exposing their bias. In 2012, serving as a surrogate for then-presidential candidate Mitt Romney, he told host Soledad O’Brien that she might as well “put an Obama bumper sticker on your forehead” while parroting his talking points.
Sununu handled himself deftly once again as the network pushed ridiculous talking points instead of asking reasonable questions.
Once again CNN and their buddy’s are smearing the president and trying to divide the country. Will they never stop. False is false ,you have been caught lie after lie after lie. And you always have a excuse. We the people are not interested in your version of truth. We can read and figure out who is telling fairy tales. How dare you get snippy. You are the reason why people are tuning out. You are a good liar or storyteller. Whatever helps you sleep at night. but we don’t have to swallow it anymore. If Mr Mccain really cared even a little bit about this country, his last words would have been words of healing and coming together as a country ,not tear it apart more.
