CNN’s Camerota to NRA Spokeswoman: ‘How Dare You Accuse Us of Loving Mass Shootings’

CNN’s Alisyn Camerota and NRA Spokeswoman Dana Loesch got into a heated exchange Friday morning, addressing comments Loesch made at CPAC alleging that the mainstream media loves mass shootings.

“Many in legacy media love mass shootings. You guys love it,” Loesch said at the conference earlier in the week. “Now I’m not saying that you love the tragedy. But I am saying that you love the ratings. Crying white mothers are ratings gold to you and many in the legacy media in the back (of the room).”

Loesch went on to ask CNN where the town halls were for other victims. Kate Steinle, shot and killed by an illegal immigrant, for example.

Controversial sure, but the point is that CNN has been more than willing to prop up traumatized kids to push their gun narrative. Doing so is a ratings hit, and they love it as Loesch said.

Camerota invited Loesch on to discuss her comments and things quickly escalated.

“You know you’re using heated rhetoric, inflammatory rhetoric, how is that part of the solution?” Camerota demanded.

“I think you have to take some responsibility that when you go to CPAC and gin them up against the media by claiming we love mass shootings and kids being killed, you need to take some responsibility that that’s not a helpful conversation,” she added.

Loesch responded, “Well, you guys should … perhaps take some responsibility in the handling and coverage of the matter and don’t allow accusations against millions of Americans as child murderers to stand uncorrected on your network.”

Camerota denied the charge, but the gun control town hall told a different story. It was an unmitigated disaster in which the crowd was stocked with anti-gun crazies, Loesch was booed, heckled, and called a “murderer,” and moderator Jake Tapper sat back silently as one student compared Sen. Marco Rubio to the school shooter himself.

“We love mass shootings? It’s not true,” Camerota insisted. “How dare you!”

The fireworks didn’t end there.

Camerota demanded the NRA find a solution to the issue of gun violence, but Loesch quickly swatted her away.

“The NRA does bear some responsibility in terms of fixing this solution,” Camerota insisted. “They do need to come to the table.”

“No, we absolutely do not,” Loesch shot back.

Camerota mocked the NRA for focusing on the mistakes made by the FBI in the Florida shooting and for wanting better mental health legislation.

“You want to talk about all sorts of things …” she said, “but when it comes to gun violence, you don’t want to talk about guns.”

Funny how she dismissed the two main issues that would have actually prevented the Florida shooting and then pivoted to grasping a straw man argument in ‘gun violence.’

This instance of ‘gun violence’ would never have happened if there were better steps taken to address the shooter’s mental health issues or if the FBI did something simple like their job.
