Washington Post Columnist Predicts Trump Will Resign 10 Minutes Before Term Is Up, Allowing Pence to Pardon Him

The Washington Post’s token “conservative” columnist Jennifer Rubin offered a wild conspiracy theory on Sunday, predicting President Trump would resign minutes before his term expires, allowing Mike Pence to issue him a pardon.

Speaking on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” the Post writer and rabid “neverTrumper” echoed statements by Rep. Adam Schiff that the President will face being prosecuted once he leaves office.

“I would predict here on MSNBC that when Trump leaves office he will resign the presidency 10 minutes before (Vice President) Mike Pence leaves office,” Rubin said, “allowing Pence to pardon him if there is not a Republican president to follow him.”

Rubin, much like the notion that she is an actual “conservative blogger” as listed on her bio, is engaging in pure fantasy.

Rubin shocked the MSNBC panel

The attention-seeking comment was met with audible gasps from the panel, including Jonathan Capehart, who also serves as a Trump Derangement columnist with the Washington Post.

“Wow … we got that on tape,” Capeheart cheered, stopping just short of breaking out pompoms. “And also, when you accept the pardon, you have to accept the level of guilt, so, keep that in mind.”

This is what amounts to commentary on the mainstream news – wild speculation, followed by analysis of what that wild speculation means.

Trump is not going to resign

Left-wing talking heads have been nearly euphoric since special counsel Robert Mueller issued a court filing requesting a substantial prison sentence for Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen.

In what amounts to little more than a Rorschach test, the left is seeing what they want to see and it doesn’t necessarily comport with reality.

The Cohen sentencing recommendation contained nary an ounce of evidence of Russian collusion. Even Schiff shifted his focus to campaign finance violations, which as we’ve previously covered, has already been litigated in court when John Edwards was similarly accused.

Edwards had his case abandoned when he argued that the use of campaign funds to hide an extramarital affair were actually just gifts given to keep the scandal quiet, and would have taken place if he were running for President or not.

Rubin continues her string of disgusting comments

Rubin, as discussed above, still pretends to be a conservative but has clearly fallen off the deep end in the age of Trump. And if you can’t be honest in your bio, about who you are, what other things are you willing to lie about?

She has also graduated to vicious attacks in recent months, famously declaring to impressionable liberal viewers that Press Secretary Sarah Sanders should be harassed for the rest of her life.

Lying, you expect from the mainstream media. It’s who they are, it’s what they do. Conspiracy theories and inciting violence like this suggest a mental instability that shouldn’t be rewarded with space in a mainstream newspaper, let alone airtime on television.
