A public school in Mississippi named after Jefferson Davis is being renamed to honor former President Obama, bearing the name – Barack Obama Magnet IB.
The change was voted on earlier this month and announced at the Jackson Public Schools Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday evening.
According to the Clarion-Ledger, about ninety-eight percent of the students who attend the Davis Magnet school are black.
The name change to honor Obama will take place during the next school year.
PTA President Janelle Jefferson explained that the change is meant “to reflect a person who fully represents the ideals and public stances consistent with what we want our children to believe about themselves.”

Well one thing is for certain, when Janelle Jefferson speaks about “ideals” she surely isn’t referring to the political.
Jefferson Davis after all, former President of the Confederate States, was a Democrat, just like Obama.
In an interview with Fox News’ contributor Angela McGlowan, Jesse Jackson Jr. explains how the Democrat Party is the party of the Confederacy.
“There is no doubt that the Democratic Party is the party of the Confederacy, historically, that the Democratic Party’s flag is the Confederate flag,” Jackson claimed. “It was our party’s flag. That Jefferson Davis was a Democrat, that Stonewall Jackson strongly identified with the Democratic Party, that secessionists in the South saw themselves as Democrats and were Democrats.”
He added, “The Democratic Party’s history, since it is our nation’s oldest political party, has its roots in slavery.”
But hey, nowadays it’s all about rewriting history, and the only way to do that is by renaming schools and parks, removing statues, and removing flags.

Dr. Ben Carson once said of the confederate flag debate, “The issue is not the flag so much as it is how people think … What’s in their heart?”
Carson added, “You can get rid of every Confederate flag in the world but if you’re still being motivated by the wrong emotion it’s not going to solve any problem.”
Just as you can rename all the public schools in the world.
