Did James Comey just admit President Trump never colluded with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election?
That’s exactly what can be inferred judging by the answer he just gave Jake Tapper on CNN.
As part of his book tour promoting his self-serving memoir, Comey stopped by CNN to have an interview with Jake Tapper. Now, unlike most CNN journalists, Tapper has a modicum of scruples, and will actually be critical in interviews with political figures, whether they’re liberal or conservative.
Tapper wasted no time digging into Comey, asking about the breaking news that his infamous memos, which triggered the Robert Mueller-led Russia probe, are going to be released to Congress. Check out what Comey said:
Former FBI Director James Comey says if his memos are released to Congress, “I think what folks will see, if they get to see the memos, is that I’ve been consistent since the very beginning” https://t.co/fe3r1pfQZ0 pic.twitter.com/xZ44LJaV7B

We’ll just see about that, Mr. Comey. Once the contents of those memos are released to the public, we may have a different view.
Regardless, Comey went on answering tough questions, including the big kahuna of them all: Did Trump collude with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election?
No doubt, Democrats were glued to their television screens, hoping and praying Comey would give up the goods to impeach Trump. Much to their dismay, Comey crushed their dreams right before their eyes.
Here’s how Comey responded, as outlined by a few Twitter users:
Asked directly by @jaketapper Do you have evidence Trump has been compromised by the Russians?@Comey will only say “it’s possible”
— David P Gelles (@gelles) April 19, 2018
“There is a reason I say it’s ‘possible,'” Comey says of Russian collusion.

Comey tells @jaketapper “there’s a reason I think it’s possible” Trump is compromised by Russians because 1) he always wanted Comey to deny collusion and 2) he wouldn’t criticize Vladimir Putin even in private.

So let’s get this straight. Comey never says Trump colluded with Russia. He merely says it’s possible, while practically admitting he has no proof.
The reasons Comey lists don’t even make any sense. Trump wanted Comey to clear him of collusion charges because he wanted his presidency to be legitimate and not have a dark cloud over it. As for Putin, Trump consistently said on the campaign trail that America should have a better relationship with Russia, specifically when it comes to defeating Islamic terrorism.
Comey’s hunches are easily explainable. And they don’t constitute collusion. So, therefore, Comey has no proof of Russia collusion. Because there wasn’t any.
