Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who has been accused of “breathtaking bigotry and homophobia,” doubled down on an evidence-free allegation that Senator Lindsey Graham has been compromised.
Growing rumblings from the left have accused Graham of being blackmailed by President Trump for allegedly being gay.
The South Carolina senator, once a vocal critic of the President, has been a staunch supporter after recognizing that their conservative goals, if not their methods to implement those goals, were perfectly aligned.
Naturally, the left assumed that Graham, a lifelong bachelor, had to be gay and Trump was hanging that fact over his head. How else to explain his support, they wonder.
“It could be that Donald Trump or somebody knows something pretty extreme about Lindsey Graham,” MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle insinuated. “We’re gonna have to leave it there.”
Jon Cooper, chairman of the Democratic Coalition Super PAC, later chimed in by suggesting the President knew of some sort of “sexual kink” preference by Graham.
Omar, one of two Muslim women elected to Congress for the first time this past midterm, made it a triumvirate of homophobia by tweeting her own theory as well.
They got to him, he is compromised! https://t.co/m8sB3EmElg

During an interview with CNN anchors Jim Sciutto and Poppy Harlow, Omar was asked to explain her wild conspiracy theory to viewers. She proceeded to stumble, offer up what she believed to be ‘evidence’ that wasn’t really evidence, and even said “lots of Americans … agree on this.”
Except they don’t.

After being questioned about it, Omar deflected the homophobic aspect of her insinuations, but insisted, “I am pretty sure there is something happening with him.”
“Whether it is something that has to do with his funding when it comes to running for office, whether it has something to do with the polling that they might have in his district, or whether it has to do with some sort of leadership within the Senate,” she added.
“He is somehow compromised to no longer stand up for the truth to make sure that he is fighting to protect the oath that he took in serving the American people.”
Sciutto challenged her for doubling down on a wild theory by saying she’s made “a remarkable comment to make about a sitting U.S. Senator.”
“The evidence really is present to us, is being presented to us in the way that he’s behaving,” Omar responded before finally admitting it was just her own sick opinion.
Her tweet was “an opinion based on what I believe to be visible to me, and I’m pretty sure there are lots of Americans who agree [with] us.”
Harmeet K. Dhillon, a national committeewoman for the Republican National Committee, thrashed Omar for her reckless comments.
Breathtaking bigotry, homophobia from a member of Congress. It’s not funny, and puzzling why Dems get away with outdated stereotypes and dumb conspiracy theories like this. https://t.co/5PePckchHG

For her part, Omar has insisted that despite the track record from her colleagues and what being ‘compromised’ has meant to them time and again, she was not referring to Graham’s sexuality.
Yes, because the Right thinks being homosexual is “compromising”.
Well I have news for them, being LGBTQ+ isn’t something we should be ashamed of!
Y’all know my tweet had nothing to do with his sexuality and everything to do with his blind cooperation w/ Trump.
Let’s focus! https://t.co/6FSvjnm8xi

Omar Also Defends Tweet About Israel’s ‘Evil Doings’
Omar, who was endorsed by pro-Hamas activist Linda Sarsour, as well as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which is designated as a terrorist organization in the United Arab Emirates, defended another controversial tweet.
In 2012 she invoked Allah, asking him to expose Israel’s “evil doings.”

Omar was asked about the comment in an interview with PBS’s Christiane Amanpour.
“Those unfortunate words were the only words I could think about expressing at that moment,” she claimed.
Omar should have been censured by the House yesterday.
