How to Build the Wall

The government has been shut down for more than three weeks now and the reason for the shut down is nothing more than the fact that Democrats refuse to secure our open border.

If that’s not enough, the liberals and their propagandist friends in the mainstream media can’t get over themselves when it comes to reporting that Trump surmised Mexico would somehow pay for the wall. In addition to Mexico paying for the wall, liberal heads have been exploding left and right as Trump has shifted his talk with regards to what the wall would be constructed of – steel or concrete. The truth is, we need a secure border, period.

Make Mexico pay for the wall

This is a line recited by President Trump time and time again and the fake news media cannot get enough of it. If only President Trump were reading my column here, I have one perfect solution to get Mexico to pay for the wall.

To get Mexico to pay for the wall, simply rescind all foreign aid payments to Mexico until the wall is built. Not only would this provide a substantial amount of money for the wall, it would likely get Mexico on board when it comes to providing financial support to assist in the building of the wall as well. When Mexico realizes that they will no longer be receiving the enormous amount of money in foreign aid, they will have no choice but to work with President Trump to help him achieve his big, beautiful wall.

Just how much do we give to Mexico?

Amidst the debate over the border wall and how it would be funded, news broke that the State Department pledged we would provide $5.8 billion dollars in aid to Central American countries and $4.8 billion dollars in aid to Mexico. This begs the obvious question, why are we shelling out nearly double what President Trump asked for to fund the wall? It is being reported that we are doing so in an effort “to promote better security conditions and job opportunities.” While this may sound great, many fail to realize that we have been giving away billions of taxpayer dollars to countries throughout the world all in an effort to help their economies, provide better schools, improve their security conditions, etc. And what have we received in return for all of this? We continue to receive lectures from the left about how we are one of the most racist xenophobic countries on the face of the earth.

Between the year 2001 and 2018 the highest yearly dollar amount we gave to Mexico occurred in 2010 in which we doled out a whopping $718 million dollars. Other notable dollar amounts include $582 million dollars in 2015 and $290 million dollars in 2017. Without giving Mexico welfare every year, the wall could have been built.

It’s time to start focusing on the American people

I’ll be the first one to say that we should be generous to others and do everything we can to assist others who may not be as fortunate as we are here in the United States. But the Federal Government of the United States is there to serve the American people first and foremost, and it cannot do that when we are doling out millions upon millions of dollars to other countries throughout the world. The left wants to know how we will pay for the wall, it’s time we start keeping our money within the borders of our country to fund projects that help and support our citizens first, and we can start by BUILDING THE WALL!
