Major news out of the White House today as Hope Hicks, the White House Communications Director, just announced her resignation.

This is a huge blow to the White House, as Hicks is one of President Trump’s most trusted advisors. She has been with Trump since the early days of his campaign, and previously worked for him at the Trump Organization.

Of all the recent White House shakeups, this one takes the cake. Hicks is a staple in the Administration and has earned the role as the “Trump whisperer,” one of the few people in the President’s inner circle who understands and gets him.

The New York Times just broke the story:

Hope Hicks, the White House communications director and one of President Trump’s longest-serving advisers, said Wednesday that she was resigning.

Ms. Hicks, 29, a former model who joined Mr. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign without any experience in politics, became known as one of the few aides who understood his personality and style and could challenge the president to change his views.

The reason Hicks gave for leaving is still ambiguous. Here’s more from reporter Maggier Haberman: “Ms. Hicks had been considering leaving for several months. She told colleagues that she had accomplished what she felt she could with a job that made her one of the most powerful people in Washington, and that there would never be a perfect moment to leave, according to White House aides.”

Hicks has been in hot water in recent days after his relationship with former White House Staff Secretary Rob Porter was outed. Porter, of course, was fired after police records revealed he abused his two ex-wives. It was later revealed that Hicks played a major role in covering for Porter until the news finally broke.

This is huge news. What do you think of Hicks’s sudden departure? Tell us your thoughts below, and share this story over Facebook and Twitter now!
