Remember not so long ago, when the media went wild after Donald Trump because he didn’t immediately condemn an alleged endorsement from former Grand Wizard of the KKK David Duke?
It later turned out that Duke never even endorsed Trump – something Duke went out of his way to make public.
I guess the rumor alone was good enough for liberals in the media.
Fast forward to today, when a California branch of the KKK has raised at least $20,000 for the campaign of another presidential candidate. The media isn’t covering it. Why? Because it’s not Trump, or Ted Cruz, or John Kasich the Klan is supporting … It’s Hillary Clinton!
Via AOL News:
A prominent Ku Klux Klan leader says that the group has raised thousands of dollars for Hillary Clinton’s campaign and that the Klan is officially endorsing the Democratic frontrunner for president—a claim the Clinton campaign vigorously denies.
Shortly after setting a giant cross on fire with dozens of other members of various white nationalist groups in Georgia on Saturday, Will Quigg, a Grand Dragon in a California branch of the KKK, sat down with Vocativ—which was there for a larger reporting trip about the modern state of the hate group—to talk about the 2016 election. According to Quigg, “For the KKK, Clinton is our choice.”
“She is friends with the Klan,” Quigg said. “A lot of people don’t realize that. She’s friends with Senator [Robert] Byrd. He’s been an Exulted Cyclops in the Klan. He’s been King Kleagle.” (King Kleagle is another KKK title for the leader of an entire “realm,” or state. Quigg is the King Kleagle for California.) Robert Byrd is a former U.S. senator from West Virginia. In the 1940s, Byrd organized and served as the leader of a Klan chapter in West Virginia. Byrd has long since disavowed the Klan and called his involvement “wrong.” In 2010, Hillary Clinton called Senator Byrd a “friend and mentor.”
Where is the wall-to-wall media coverage? Where are the disavowals? Denying the KKK is raising money for you is all well and good but two things: 1) It doesn’t mean they’re not raising it on your behalf without your knowledge, which is still unacceptable and 2) Clinton hasn’t exactly had a stranglehold on the concept of truth over the years.
This Quigg fellow announced his support of Hillary Clinton months ago, saying he likes her because of her “hidden agenda.”
The media barely mentioned it at the time, with the exception of taking the opportunity to speculate Quigg’s endorsement was actually meant to hurt Hillary and hide the possibility that he was still secretly a Trump supporter.
With tens of thousands of dollars now heading to the Hillary campaign, that theory seems to have gone out the window.
