Happy New Year! President Trump’s 2020 Campaign Raises $46 Million In Fourth Quarter

In the fourth quarter of 2019, President Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign raised $46 million according to a senior Team Trump official. This impressive amount came largely due to a surge of donations in the wake of the Democrats’ impeachment bid.

These dollars give Trump a fundraising advantage over many Democrats fighting for their party’s nomination, with their first votes to go down in Iowa in little over a month.

According to Reuters, Trump’s campaign is starting the new year $102.7 million cash on hand, which helps his bid to compete in more states beyond the ones that delivered his improbable victory in 2016.

A Big Reason for Trump’s Fundraising Success Is That He Never Stopped Campaigning

An anonymous campaign official said that Trump’s strong fundraising was a direct result of his decision to keep his campaign going after taking office in 2017.

Trump filed for re-election shortly after stepping into the White House, which allowed the campaign to keep functioning. This is something most incoming presidents don’t do.

The $46 million raised in the fourth quarter was just the amount raised by the Trump re-election campaign. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence commonly appear at fundraising events that benefit both the campaign and the Republican National Committee.

The amount the RNC has raised in the fourth quarter of 2019 is expected to be revealed soon.

In the third quarter of 2019, Trump and the Republican Party combined raised $125 million.

In all of 2019, Trump’s re-election campaign raised a total of $143 million and banked $83.4 million of it. His team began 2019 with $19.3 million cash on hand.

According to the anonymous Trump official, his $102.7 million cash on hand surpasses the $81.8 million Democratic President Barack Obama’s campaign had when he kicked off his re-election effort at the end of 2011.

2020 Democrats have also begun releasing fundraising numbers for the fourth quarter. Pete Buttigieg announced Wednesday that his campaign had raised $24.7 million in the last three months of 2019.

‘The president’s campaign only got bigger and stronger’

Still, the $46 million raised represented the greatest fundraising quarter for the Trump campaign in the 2020 election, most of it due to backlash against the Democrats over impeachment.

Trump campaign head Brad Parscale said in a statement that his boss’s strong quarter “is testament to his wide grassroots support and his stellar record of achievement on behalf of the American people.”

“Democrats and the media have been in a sham impeachment frenzy and the president’s campaign only got bigger and stronger with our best fundraising quarter this cycle,” he added.

“The president’s war chest and grassroots army make his re-election campaign an unstoppable juggernaut,” Parscale finished.
