Gingrich Nails Blue To Red State Migration

Sadly, the migrants bring their politics with them.

Gingrich

There was a time not too long ago, and for some quite recent, when California, Arizona, Colorado, Virginia, and Georgia were considered Republican bastions. No more.

Liberal Voters Migrate

A great deal of the reason for the red to blue switch has been the migration of liberal voters from blue states to red states. This makes the destination states at first pink, like Arizona and Georgia now, and eventually red. The big domino, Texas, Democrats plan to win by votes from illegal aliens.

Why and how has this happened? Easy. Most people are rational economic players. They strive to live in states with plentiful jobs, low costs of living, and low taxes. Failed states like California offer none of that. So voters move to find better economic climes. But like people infected by a political virus, they bring the old state leftist bacillus with them to their new homes.

They never put together that they were part of the problem in their former homes. Thus they vote the same as they did before in direct contravention of the reason they moved in the first place. Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich adds details.

Gingrich Sounds Off

“There are deeper things going on as you point out, the blue states are hemorrhaging people, shoving them away and what’s crazy is in the middle of all of this, the answer of the liberals is to raise taxes,” Gingrich told Fox News.

“So you have everybody who is productive, who has resources, who pays taxes beginning to leave and instead of trying to figure out how to keep them, they’re going to accelerate the transition out of the blue states to the states that are run overwhelmingly by Republicans,” he added.

“You’ve never seen a clearer contrast between a high tax big bureaucracy unionized machine system in all of these states run by Democratic governors and a free enterprise small business entrepreneurship, low tax system as we are seeing in almost all the Republican states — and the result is exactly what human nature tells you it would be, people leave the pain, they go to the pleasure and the migration is just going to continue,” Gingrich continued.

Gingrich Concludes

“I was just told today for example the number two issue now in New York mayor’s race is crime and it’s rising steadily,” he concluded. “We’re back in a pre-Giuliani disastrous area of crime and if that sinks in, the combination of crime being anti-police, being pro-criminal, being for huge bureaucracies and raising taxes that can come together in a way that’s very powerful.”

As usual, Gingrich gets it right. There is an upside. As red states get more people they get more congressional seats and blue states lose seats. Five out of seven of new 2020 census House seats go to red states. Let’s hope they stay red.
