The Southern Methodist University (SMU) football team got a surprise visit during their workout on Tuesday.
Former president George W. Bush attended practice and delivered a powerful message to players from the Houston area.
“I know there’s some people from Houston here, and the Houston area, and I know you’re going through a really tough time,” Bush told those affected by the wrath of Hurricane Harvey.
He promised that even though things might seem grim right now, it’s “going to get better.”

Former President George W. Bush offered words of support and comfort to the people of Texas while visiting a Southern Methodist University football practice on Tuesday.
As Houston and the surrounding areas deal with catastrophic flooding in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, Bush said the “days are dark now,” but they’re going to get better.
“I know there’s some people from Houston here and the Houston area, and I know you’re going through a really tough time,” Bush told the team. “Just know that there will be a lot of people that are going to help the people down there. A lot.”

SMU is offering football fans displaced by the storm and flooding a chance to escape for a little bit, providing free tickets and concessions at their season opener against Stephen F. Austin on Saturday.
