Fox News Sets Ratings Milestone

During the 2016 presidential election, Fox News was the only national news outlet willing to accurately cover then-candidate Donald J. Trump’s campaign. While ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC repeatedly smeared Trump during the campaign, Fox actually did their jobs.

Earlier this month, The Political Insider reported that Fox News was the top source for 2016 election news, with 40% of Trump voters relying on the network as their “main source” of election coverage. Among all voters, 19% said Fox was their “main source” of election news, compared to just 13% for CNN.

Now, Fox’s dominance in 2016 election coverage has paid off, officially marking 15 years as the most-watched cable news channel. According to Fox, “In January, FOX News Channel garnered an average of 2.8 million viewers, up 35 percent from the previous year. Also in January, the network topped basic cable as the highest-rated network in total day viewers, beating ESPN.”

In addition, the network reported that on Inauguration Day, “An average of 8.8 million viewers tuned in from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Inauguration Day, beating the viewership for networks including ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and MSNBC.”

Fox News’ primetime lineup continues to dominate cable, with The O’Reilly Factor still being the number one cable news program with 4 million total viewers. Tucker Carlson Tonight, which recently took over for the departed Megyn Kelly, is averaging 3.7 million viewers.

Other FOX News Channel shows were also up in the ratings. “Hannity” had an average of 3.1 million viewers, and “The Five” and “Special Report with Bret Baier” averaged more than 3.1 million in total viewers, marking their highest-rated months ever since the shows premiered.

It should come as no surprise to our readers that Fox News would have such strong viewership. It is the only network that actually allows conservative voices on its airwaves, who actually promote conservative values.

Between Fox and alternative media sources, the era of liberal dominance is over!
