Fox News Was Top Source of 2016 Election News

Fox News

Throughout the 2016 presidential election, the liberal media was out to get President Trump every chance they had. Conservatives had few outlets available to receive fair and impartial coverage of the president.

There is little doubt that the majority of America’s media is liberal, with few outlets available to conservatives outside of Fox News and talk radio.

The media’s bias was on full display during the 2016 presidential election, and a whopping 55% of voters believed the media was biased against President-elect Donald J. Trump.

With most Americans turning away from the traditional liberal news outlets across the country, Fox News has benefited immensely, and a new Pew Research study found that the cable network was the dominant source of election news for the American public in 2016.

Their study found that 40% of Trump voters relied on Fox News as their “main source” of news, by far the largest source. Among all voters, Fox earned 19%, whereas CNN came in second place with just 13%.

TVNewser summarized the report’s findings as such:

  • ABC, NBC, MSNBC, NPR and CBS were virtually tied as a main source of election news.
  • Digital news publishers did not play an outsize role. Breitbart was named by 1 percent of voters, BuzzFeed wasn’t named by any voters in the Pew study.
  • Voters say they regularly got election headlines from Google News (18 percent), The Huffington Post (17 percent), and  Yahoo News (12 percent).

Unlike other networks, Fox News actually provided Trump and his supporters with an opportunity to speak on air, rather than simply have their views explained by a liberal anchor at CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, or NBC. As such, the network proved to be a valuable source of information for millions of Americans who not only supported President-elect Trump but were disgusted with the anti-Trump bias being spewed by the media.
