Lowest Rated Fox News Show Outperforms CNN’s Best

Fox News is dominating CNN in prime time so badly that their least-watched shows are outperforming CNN’s best.

Fox’s least watched show in prime time is “Fox News at Night with Shannon Bream,” which drew in an average of 1.5 million viewers per episode last month. “Primetime” is 8-11pm on Monday-Friday. Across all networks, more people tune in from 9:15-9:30 than any other time in prime time, and the fewest are watching during the tail end of prime time – 10:45 to 11 pm. Bream’s show airs at 11 pm.

CNN’s best-viewed show in prime time, “Anderson Cooper 360,” brought in an average audience of 1.1 million last month. Cooper’s show airs from 8-10pm.

In other words, Fox’s least watched show in prime time drew in 40% more viewers than CNN’s most-watched. Perhaps milking conspiracy theories about Trump’s connections to Russia hasn’t been as big a ratings boost for CNN as they’d expected.

Even Fox’s non-prime time shows outperformed.

According to the Washington Times:

Several shows in Fox’s morning and daytime lineups also outperformed “AC360,” including “America’s Newsroom,” “Fox & Friends,” “Outnumbered,” “Your World with Neil Cavuto,” “Happening Now,” “Shepard Smith Reporting,” “Outnumbered Overtime” and “Daily Briefing with Dana Perino.”

It’s the latest bad news for CNN, which saw prime-time viewership decline 17 percent in the first quarter of 2018. Not a single CNN show cracked the top 20 in total viewership, although the network’s numbers were better in the coveted 25-54 demo, among whom “AC360” placed 12th.

If MSNBC is included, there are 15 Fox News and eight MSNBC shows across all time slots with higher ratings than CNN’s most popular show.

Trump has singled out CNN for criticism more than any other mainstream news outlet – and its hosts that have supported that President that have fared the best in the rating wars. Fox’s Sean Hannity is the rating king, with Tucker Carlson right behind him.
