A veteran of campaigns for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton is urging far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) to run for President in 2024, citing her as the Democrat Party’s best hope of beating Donald Trump.

In a column published in The Hill earlier this month, political strategist Michael Starr Hopkins can barely keep up with the drool coming out of his mouth to type as he presents Ocasio-Cortez as the future of the resistance party.

Hopkins suggests AOC has had a “meteoric rise,” is following a path “eerily similar” to that of Obama, and is a “smart, photogenic” force to be reckoned with.

The congresswoman, Hopkins writes, “is less of a personality and more of a movement” and “also the future of the Democratic Party.”

She “could out-Trump Trump like no other politician has been able to,” he explains.

Obama Campaign Vet Makes the Case for AOC in 2024

Hopkins surely believes the tripe he is typing but his own words betray the sincerity. There isn’t a serious argument to be found in the entire column, but rather false equivalent arguments that AOC in 2024 would be a replica of Obama’s run in 2008.

Except it would be much better because she is a true progressive – and American voters are clamoring for a true progressive in the White House, to hear Hopkins tell it.

“AOC has the ability to tell the story of her generation,” she said, despite any and all evidence to the contrary. “She’s Barack Obama if Barack Obama was an actual progressive. I love Obama, but he was a moderate who sounded like a progressive.”

Obama was a moderate! Can’t make this stuff up.

Even more amusing – Hopkins believes she’s the Democrat Party’s best choice because of one “superpower” in particular.

“AOC wields a superpower that is rarely found in Washington,” he wrote. “She isn’t afraid to lose.”

Should she run, AOC will need that superpower. She stands virtually no chance of even making a dent in the election.

Buzz For AOC

This isn’t the first time progressives have been clamoring for AOC to run for President – in 2024 or otherwise.

Politico in 2019 reported that Ocasio-Cortez’s work as a surrogate for Bernie Sanders had been prompting buzz about a future presidential run of her own.

“As she’s drawn massive crowds,” the outlet fawned, “progressive insiders and activists are increasingly whispering about Ocasio-Cortez inheriting the movement one day — and running for the White House with it behind her.”

For her part, AOC has played rather coy when asked about any plans to run for the presidency in 2024.

She dodged a question on the matter this past June in an appearance with Stephen Colbert.

“I know somebody who’s going to turn 35 about a month before the election in 2024 and they represent New York’s 14th. Is that job appealing to you at all?” Colbert asked.

“We need to focus on keeping a democracy for anybody to be president in the next couple of years,” she responded. “That’s my central focus is helping the people of this country right now.”

Asked again by Colbert she replied, “I don’t know about all that … you’re trying to get me in trouble, I don’t know about all that.”

Volumes – encyclopedia sets – could be filled, single-spaced with no margins on every page, with the number of things AOC doesn’t know about.

From Hopkins’ lips to God’s ears, please let her run.
