Flashback: Trump Offered To Officiate Scarborough-Brzezinski Wedding

Could this be the origin of the blood feud between Donald Trump and “Morning Joe”?

It’s certainly no secret that there’s no love lost between the president and MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinksi. The “Morning Joe” duo has been bad-mouthing Trump ever since he announced his candidacy, and the rivalry positively exploded on Thursday when Trump tweeted a vicious smackdown on the newly engaged couple, claiming that Brzezinski showed up to his Mar-A-Lago estate around New Year’s Eve “bleeding badly from a face-lift.”

But while it’s easy to chalk this feud up to politics, it could be rooted in something much more personal.

Back in January, Brzezinski reportedly shot down Trump’s offer to officiate her and Scarborough’s wedding. Here’s the story from Page Six:

Scarborough, 54, told Vanity Fair that Trump, 70, suggested they tie the knot at Mar-A-Lago or the White House.

“That’s when Jared [Kushner] interrupted and said, ‘Hey, you know what? I’ve got my license. I could marry you,’” Scarborough recalled.

Not to be outdone, Scarborough claims that Trump snapped back, “‘Why would you marry them? They could have the president of the United States marry them.’”

But unfortunately for Trump, Brzezinski, 54, is against the idea.

“The White House that I grew up in was an amazing place. If it weren’t Trump, it might be something to think about,” Brzezinski said. “The mental picture is just fascinating, but the reality is just … no. No, no, no, no, no.”

Ouch.

Brzezinski certainly hasn’t been quiet about her disdain for the president. Just prior to Trump’s Twitter assault Thursday, she and “Psycho Joe” aired a segment where they literally made fun of Trump for nearly two minutes straight – while simultaneously bragging about Scarborough’s “accomplishments”:

Could Scarborough possibly be any more punchable? Unlikely.

As for Trump’s handling of the entire situation, Stephanie Grisham, Melania Trump’s communications director, put it best: “As the first lady has stated publicly in the past, when her husband gets attacked, he will punch back 10 times harder.”

Can you blame him?
