Feds Now Targeting Trump’s Save America PAC, Senior Adviser Stephen Miller Subpoenaed

It appears the Biden Justice Department was just getting started with former President Donald Trump. First there was the FBI raid on his Florida Mar-a-Lago estate for alleged classified documents. 

Now, a federal grand jury has been empaneled in Washington D.C. to investigate the creation and spending of Trump’s political action committee, the Save America PAC. 

Further, former top Trump adviser Stephen Miller has been subpoenaed in the matter.

The Next Thing

The investigation into the Save America PAC is part of the larger investigation into activities just prior to and including January 6, 2021. As subpoenas for documents, records, and witness testimony went out regarding Jan. 6 testimony, interest was sparked in the PAC.

The Save America PAC was created a few days after the 2020 presidential election. ABC News, which was among the first to report on the issuing of subpoenas in relation to the PAC investigation, writes: 

“Trump and his allies have consistently pushed supporters to donate to the PAC, often using false claims about the 2020 election and soliciting donations to rebuke the multiple investigations into the former president, his business dealings, and his actions on Jan. 6.”

Fundraising

Things like the Mar-a-Lago raid and President Joe Biden’s divisive speech attacking “MAGA Republicans” might not be having the intended effect on support for another presidential run for Donald Trump.

Following the FBI raid, Eric Trump, the president’s son, took to social media and said that, “DonaldJTrump.com is shattering all fundraising records and I’m told has raised more money in the past 24 hours than ever before in recent history! The American people are pissed!” 

But even prior to the most recent attacks, the Save America PAC was financially well-armed to not only help out Trump-endorsed candidates for the 2022 midterm election if they needed it, but also to gear up for a possible 2024 run.

The Political Insider first reported back in April 2021, that the Save America PAC was well funded, and according to financial disclosures filed semiannually, at the time had approximately $85 million on hand. 

As of the latest quarterly reporting, the PAC has $99 million on hand.

If the Save America PAC was swimming in cash over a year ago, it begs the question, why all of the current attention?

Trump Supporters Not Buying It

Supporters of Donald Trump think they know exactly what is going on, and it has nothing to do with finding Trump guilty of any criminal activity. And even if that were to happen, most Republicans think Trump should run again in 2024 regardless of any charges.

A new NPR/PBS New Hour/Marist National Poll says that 61% of Republicans say Trump should make another White House run. And of those polled, 63% of Republicans do not believe he did anything wrong.

Donald Trump has also run away with just about every unscientific straw poll at every conservative and Republican gathering this year. Back in February at the annual CPAC conference, Trump won the straw poll with 58% of the vote.

In May at the Wisconsin State GOP convention, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis edged out Trump by just 38% to 32%. But in July at the Turning Point USA student summit, Trump was back on top with 78.7% of the vote.

Kind of makes you wonder, what will they think of next?
