Not long after Hillary released her 2016 election memoir “What Happened,” former DNC interim Chairwoman Donna Brazile released a new book of her own, titled “Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns that Put Donald Trump in the White House”
In the book, she writes that it “broke her heart” when she discovered evidence that Hillary’s campaign had fixed the Democratic nomination system in her favor.
According to The Hill, “in an excerpt from the book that was provided to Politico, Brazile explains how she was tasked with investigating the DNC after hacked emails suggested the Clinton campaign fixed the nomination. Brazile described an agreement between the Clinton campaign, the DNC and Clinton’s joint fundraising committee that said the campaign would ‘control the party’s finances, strategy, and all the money raised.'”
The Clinton campaign fired back at Brazile, calling her claim totally wrong. Current DNC chairman Tom Perez said that his organization made a similar joint fundraising arrangement with the Bernie Sanders campaign. But NPR actually acquired the 2015 memo outlining the financial arrangement between the DNC and Clinton campaign that effectively rigged the contest against the Vermont senator. From NPR: “That may be true — but two Democratic officials tell NPR that Brazile and Perez are referring to two different things. In addition to that joint fundraising agreement the DNC reached with both campaigns, the party and the Clinton campaign struck that separate memorandum of understanding giving the campaign staffing and policy oversight.”
And then here’s the kicker: “That document was signed on Aug. 26, 2015 — before, among other things, Vice President Joe Biden ruled out a run for president.”
That pretty much seals the deal and proves that Brazile didn’t mischaracterize the deal. She was right: Hillary and her minions rigged the primary election.
But let’s not forget that Brazile herself wasn’t innocent in the whole affair. She lost her job as a contributor at CNN for ethics reasons as well, as she was caught leaking debate questions to Hillary ahead of a debate with Bernie.
The DNC has been in disarray since last year’s election, with current Chair Perez facing fierce criticism for not doing enough to bolster the Party. The RNC broke a fundraising record and raised more than $100 million during the first nine months of 2017, fueled by small-dollar donors, out-raising the DNC by a ratio of greater than 2:1. The DNC also had over $3 million in debt on the books, while the RNC has zero.
However you slice it, the Democrats are in trouble. And we now know that it’s all because the contest was rigged in Hillary’s favor.
