After being threatened to be held in contempt of Congress, officials at the FBI and Department of Justice have finally agreed to hand over subpoenaed documents related to the debunked Trump-Russia dossier.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes first requested the documents on Aug. 24. However, last week Nunes slammed the “intransigence” of the FBI and DOJ for failing to deliver the documents more than four months after the request.
“Unfortunately, DOJ/FBI’s intransigence with respect to the Aug. 24 subpoenas is part of a broader pattern of behavior that can no longer be tolerated,” Nunes said. “As a result of the numerous delays and discrepancies that have hampered the process of subpoena compliance, the committee no longer credits the representations made by DOJ and/or the FBI regarding these matters.”
Further, on Wednesday evening Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), a member of the House Freedom Caucus, told Fox Business’s Lou Dobbs that he may file contempt of Congress charges against the DOJ and FBI for failing to produce the documents.
Well, that got their attention, because also on Wednesday Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Chris Wray went to Capitol Hill to discuss the documents with House Speaker Paul Ryan. And, after speaking with Rosenstein, Rep. Nunes said he believed “the House Intelligence Committee has reached an agreement with the Department of Justice that will provide the committee with access to all the documents and witnesses we have requested. The committee looks forward to receiving access to the documents over the coming days.”
Finally.
This has taken far too long, and it only proves that the FBI and DOJ have something to hide when it comes to the phony Trump-Russia dossier. New members of the deep state are being uncovered every day with regards to the Russia investigation. Don’t be surprised when the House Intelligence Committee uncovers more.
