Democrat desperation is hitting new heights when it comes to attempting to prevent the confirmation of future Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, whom we at The Political Insider estimate has a 100% chance of being confirmed. The hysterics of Cory Booker and Kamala Harris aside, every attack the media has attempted has fallen flat.

I can’t think of a single case in recent history where opposition research on a candidate has been so week. The media has seriously resorted to smearing Kavanaugh for spending money on major league baseball tickets, or that he carried a credit card balance before paying it off. And if you thought stories like that reeked of parody, they were both outdone by the Huffington Post:

A boating trip? That monster.

So in absence of any substantive dirt on the man, what’s next for Democrats looking to “resist” Kavanaugh? A SuperPAC called the “Democratic Coalition” claims to have filed perjury charges against future Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The supposed “charges” allege that Kavanaugh perjured himself during his confirmation hearings. The Coalition has been posting news of the charges obsessively on Twitter, and even claimed that they plan to take the case to the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, which would be heard by a former Obama Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland. How ironic, right?

Below is their sensationalist press release announcing the charges:

The Democratic Coalition could’ve claimed that they just filed articles of impeachment against the president and their claim would’ve been just as bogus – because they do not have the ability or authority to file perjury charges against Kavanaugh.

In fact, only the U.S. government is capable of pursuing charges against someone who lied under oath – and the lie has to be intentional. Furthermore, Merrick Garland would not preside over such a hearing, because he’s a court of appeals judge. I guess the point of the latter lie was to evoke the fantasy of a rejected Obama SCOTUS nominee “taking down” a Trump SCOTUS nominee?

Much like the Kavanaugh hearings, these “charges” are just an attempt to keep the circus going. They literally will go nowhere, and will be dismissed (but that part won’t make headlines).

And while I’ve pointed out that it’s impossible for the Democratic Coalition to file the charges they claim to have just filed – there is zero evidence Kavanaugh perjured himself. The far-left publication Vox said that while Kavanaugh may have made statements that were inaccurate, that’s a stretch from perjury. “But do Kavanaugh’s inaccurate statements rise to the level of perjury? Did he commit a federal crime? I put the question to several legal scholars, and the reply I received was generally: ‘no'” wrote Vox’s Dylan Matthews.

The Democratic Coalition’s lawsuit is just the latest act of desperation from Democrats.

The Democratic Coalition is probably more of a “scam PAC” than anything else. Of all the money they’ve raised, 90% of it has gone to consultants and lawyers rather than actually funding candidates. That’s a bit ironic, given that the Coalition’s founder Scott Dworkin uses Twitter with the screen name “Funder.”

Despite that, the PAC has still raised millions. But you know what they say; a fool and their money are soon parted.
