Democrat Predicts That House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Will Retire

On Tuesday, House Budget Committee Chairman John Yarmuth predicted that after the 2022 midterm elections, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will retire from Congress.

Yarmuth made his remarks in an interview with The Hill.

Many expect Republicans to win back the House this November, further fueling speculation that Pelosi might retire.

Yarmuth told The Hill, “My gut would tell me that this would be her last term.”

“I see a lot of people who would be the presumed successors donating a lot of money to their colleagues,” Yarmuth added.

Another lawmaker said, “If we’re in the minority, I can’t imagine her wanting to do it.”

Who might replace Pelosi as Democrat’s House leader?

The Hill reported, “Ready to seize the opportunity to rise in the ranks are the three leaders seated just below (Rep. James Clyburn): Assistant Speaker Katherine Clark (D-Mass.), Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) and Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.), the caucus vice chairman. ”

“While there are sure to be others in the mix vying for leadership spots — some early speculation surrounds Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.), Congressional Progressive Caucus Chairwoman Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) — some lawmakers are predicting ‘no wild cards’ in the highest ranks next year,” The Hill added.

If Republicans retake the House in 2022, Minority House Leader Kevin McCarthy is likely to become the next House Speaker.

On Monday, McCarthy told Breitbart News if he were in charge that he would take “pencil neck Schiff,” meaning Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, off the intelligence committee.

McCarthy also said he would kick Democrats Eric Swalwell and Ilhan Omar off of their committee assignments.

“The Democrats have created a new thing where they’re picking and choosing who can be on committees,” McCarthy said. “Never in the history [of Congress] have you had the majority tell the minority who can be on committee.”

“But this new standard which these Democrats have voted for—if Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the private sector, there is no reason why he should be given one to be on Intel or Homeland Security. He will not be serving there,” McCarthy added.

“You look at Adam Schiff—he should not be serving on Intel when he has openly, knowingly now used a fake dossier, lied to the American public in the process and doesn’t have any ill will [and] says he wants to continue to do it,” McCarthy said.

“We’re going to reshape—think about what happened in Afghanistan,” McCarthy said.
