Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen (D), known for using offensive analogies to further a political point, suggested that President Trump needs to be impeached because he’s “raping the country.”
Way to diminish the pain of actual assault survivors, Ace.
In the midst of a Steering and Policy Committee meeting, Cohen incorrectly stated that former President Bill Clinton faced impeachment proceedings “over sex” while the current leader of the free world is “raping the country.”
There is so much wrong with those few words it’s difficult to fathom that an adult actually said them out loud, let alone a sitting member of Congress.
Clinton, while it’s easy to remember him for the multiple extramarital affairs, was not impeached because he had sex with an intern and many other women. He was impeached because he committed perjury and obstruction of justice.
@RepCohen is a trash human being.
A) Clinton was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice.
B) Attorney General says no obstruction of justice by @realDonaldTrump.
C) Always smart to belittle actual victims of rape, you dolt. pic.twitter.com/RmmbkjXTAF

Rep. Cohen Hammers Pelosi
Cohen, who was leading others in pushing for Trump’s impeachment, also asserted that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was simply afraid of acting against the President because it might cost her the Democrat majority.
“This isn’t about politics at all. It’s about patriotism,” Pelosi responded. “It’s about the strength we need to have to see things through.”
If it was about patriotism the Democrats would stop trying to take down the man elected by the American people using frivolous charges and outright hoaxes.
Cohen already introduced articles of impeachment in 2017 over the President’s reaction to violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, which itself has been a media-generated hoax.
During a closed-door meeting earlier, Rep. Steve Cohen yelled Dems should impeach Trump.
Cohen then said while Clinton faced impeachment “over sex,” Trump was currently “raping the country.”https://t.co/XqdWZ4gQcl

Rep. Cohen’s History of Dumb Political Stunts
While rape analogies are never a good idea, using one to make a false claim in defense of Clinton is reprehensible. But then, Cohen’s entire career is mired with idiotic statements and action.
- He ate fried chicken in the House chamber as a means to mock the Attorney General as, well … a chicken.
- Compared Trump’s presidency to the tragic fire that tore through the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
- Wished Senator Marsha Blackburn would jump off a bridge.
- Suggested disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok deserved to be awarded a Purple Heart for testifying before Congress.
- Alleged NFL greats Eli and Peyton Manning sexually assault their wives.
And now the ‘Trump is raping the country’ charge. At this rate, Cohen makes Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez look like a Mensa candidate.
