Could AOC’s Latest Move Lead to Democrats Eliminating Her House Seat?
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took another stand against establishment Democrats late last week, a move that some are speculating could lead them to eliminate her House seat as retribution.
The scenario was recently laid out by the New York Post editorial staff.
On Friday, the New York socialist announced her first set of congressional endorsements – all women, and all far-left progressives like herself.
The little-told story here is that, in making the announcement, AOC was putting time and resources into defeating a number of longtime lawmakers suggesting they’re just as bad to the cause as any Republican.
“I think my ambition right now is to be a little less lonely in Congress,” she told the New York Times.
That, the Post suggests, is another salvo in a bitter fight against her own party.
“Already in hot water for refusing to pay dues to her caucus’ fundraising arm, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, she’s now devoting her resources instead to defeating Democrats,” the Board writes. “Don’t be surprised when the established Democrats who’ll control redistricting after the 2020 Census do their best to eliminate her seat.”

Democrats Want Her Gone?
There are a plethora of signs pointing to the argument that the Post is making – that some establishment Democrats want Ocasio-Cortez gone.
Reports of late have indeed indicated that Democrats in New York are attempting to redraw and eliminate her district in 2020. Perhaps it’s due to her constantly ruffling feathers within the party.
Or perhaps it’s just dues – like the kind she refuses to pay to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) despite raising buckets of cash for her pet progressive endorsement projects.
“It’s time to elect a progressive majority in Congress accountable to strong, grassroots movements that push support for issues like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, racial justice, [and] more,” she said, soliciting donations while still owing dues.
Such brazen actions must be grating to congressional Democrats who have jumped every time she’s asked them to with her radical ideas.
“So, let’s talk about how we’ll pay for it.”@AOC says tuition-free college and Medicare-for-All would be paid by a Wall Street transaction tax and converting current healthcare costs by Americans into a “payroll tax.”

Don’t Get Your Hopes Up
Though her district might get redrawn and her congressional seat eliminated by bitter Democrats, don’t get your hopes up that we’ll be seeing the last of AOC any time soon.
Reports surfaced last month that Ocasio-Cortez is being urged by her own camp to take on other establishment Democrats that she views as moderates – Senators Chuck Schumer or Kirsten Gillibrand. Those reports indicated redistricting could be a motivating factor.
Can you imagine somebody like this representing the Senate of the United States?
Worse, a Politico report prior to that indicated Ocasio-Cortez is experiencing an overwhelming groundswell of support for a future presidential run once she reaches the required age.
Democrats might want her gone but could unintended consequences propel her to the Senate or worse? Stay tuned.
