Coca-Cola (Coke) machines will be removed from government buildings in Surry County, North Carolina after the company criticized Georgia’s state voting law.
Officials approved the measure last month, according to NBC News.
Surry County Commissioner Ed Harris informed Coke CEO James Quincey via a letter that accused the company of engaging in “corporate political commentary favoring the Democratic party.”
“Our Board felt that was the best way to take a stand and express our disappointment in Coca-Cola’s actions, which are not representative of most views of our citizens,” Harris said, according to NBC.
He went on to urge other organizations across the country to adopt similar measures targeting companies that focus on politics rather than their customers.

Coke Machines Removed After CEO Says Georgia Election Law Was ‘Unacceptable’
Harris went on to point out that the “left-wing in America” is usually part of the cancel culture because they know conservatives will “cower in the corner” and “we’re supposed to accept” it.
Which is why he’s firing back for a change – though some could certainly argue what Surry County is doing is, itself cancel culture.
The ban of Coke machines in government facilities in the North Carolina county follows comments made by Quincey attacking Georgia’s vote integrity law.
“Let me be crystal clear and unequivocal,” Quincey said back in March, “this legislation is unacceptable, it is a step backward and it does not promote principles we have stood for in Georgia.”
He accused Georgia of taking “a step backwards.”

Politicians have, as you would expect, taken sides on the issue of the Georgia election law, with Republicans saying it protects voter integrity and Democrats saying it is nothing more than voter suppression.
Companies that serve the public, however, should really think twice about weighing in on such matters.
Two-thirds of Americans oppose businesses taking political stances, according to a Rasmussen poll taken shortly after Quincey’s comments.
The survey also found that 59% of respondents believe businesses weighing in on political matters further political division in America.

As NBA legend Michael Jordan once said when he was asked why he didn’t get involved in politics throughout his career: “Republicans buy sneakers too.”
Former President Donald Trump, back in April, urged conservatives to “fight back” and boycott corporations like Coca-Cola that have attacked Georgia’s election law.
President Trump on the GA boycotts:
“Boycott Major League Baseball, Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, JPMorgan Chase, ViacomCBS, Citigroup, Cisco, UPS, and Merck. Don’t go back to their products until they relent. We can play the game better than them.”

“For years the Radical Left Democrats have played dirty by boycotting products when anything from that company is done or stated in any way that offends them,” Trump said.
“It is finally time for Republicans and Conservatives to fight back.”
Is Surry County doing the right thing by fighting back, or is stooping to the cancel culture level the wrong way to go?
