AOC Mocked For Suggesting Violent Crime Will Go Down If We Build Fewer Jails

AOC was on the receiving end of a fair share of mockery after suggesting the answer to having fewer people in jail is to build fewer of them.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) was on the receiving end of a fair share of mockery after suggesting the answer to having fewer people in jail is to build fewer of them.

The New York socialist made her comments at a press conference regarding violence prevention.

She began by referring to prisons as little more than “garbage bins” for people.

“It is not acceptable for us to use jails as garbage bins for human beings. We need to treat people and see them as human,” Ocasio-Cortez said, failing to grasp that a vast majority of people in prison are there because they refused to view their victims as human.

That’s when she unleashed an idea so crazy it just might work … be crazy.

“If we want to reduce violent crime, if we want to reduce the number of people in our jails, the answer is to stop building more of them,” AOC said without any hint she was joking.

AOC is in the school of thought that violent crime comes from a lack of government programs, insisting that more programs will decrease crime.

AOC: It’s So Simple – Fewer Jails Means Fewer People In Jail

It’s comments like these – that fewer jails equate to fewer people in jails – that demonstrate AOC is little more than a product of an incredibly failed education system in America.

So, congresswoman, if we stop building jails and there are fewer people in them, where will the criminals go? Do they just disappear into the land of lollipops and unicorns, or do they simply roam society, free to commit more crimes?

It’s a tough question, take your time.

And if jails aren’t the answer, what is? Fortunately, AOC has a thought on that as well.

“The answer is to make sure that we actually build more hospitals, we pay organizers, we get people mental health care and overall health care, employment, etc.,” she claimed. “It’s to support communities, not throw them away.”

Wait – By her own logic, building more hospitals means more people in hospitals, right? Who wants that – aside from Andrew Cuomo?

AOC Mocked, And Rightfully So

Social media users who watched the clip of AOC claiming the answer to crime is building fewer jails took a few swipes at the Democrat.

“They could also stop committing crimes. That would also stop the need for more jails,” one user wrote.

Right-wing commentator and former New York Police Department officer, John Cardillo, offered his own plan in response.

“Or we can actually let cops do their jobs, enforce laws, stop coddling savages and releasing them with no bail, and make a criminals think twice about committing crimes because of consequences,” he tweeted.

“Yeah, I like my plan better.”

Jim Treacher of PJ Media replied, “Except for the Capitol rioters, of course. They should go to jail.”

Allen Ray of KLRN Radio provided an equally outrageous idea joking: “If you don’t want people to die, just stop building graveyards!”

AOC’s comments about building fewer jails solidify the fact that between her constant push to ‘defund the police’ and ‘abolish ICE,’ she is always – ALWAYS – on the side of criminals.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ocasio-Cortez was pushing for a release of older prisoners from Rikers Island, saying they simply needed to be let go from “situations that are completely destitute and wrong.”

She called it “elderly clemency.”

It’s quite clear that the New York Democrat is operating with a mind consistently manufacturing ideas that are ‘destitute and wrong.’

An ‘intellectual clemency,’ if you will.
