CNN Calls Canadian Trucker ‘Freedom Convoy’ A ‘Nationwide Insurrection’ And ‘Sedition’

CNN reporters are seemingly beside themselves over the Canadian trucker ‘Freedom Convoy,’ referring to the protest as “sedition” and a “nationwide insurrection.”

The convoy is a massive and peaceful demonstration against the US-Canada cross-border vaccine mandate, introduced by the Government of Canada on January 15, 2022.

But journalists taking part in a conversation on the protesters for “Inside Politics” are suddenly distraught over the concept of protests.

“The state of emergency in place in Ottawa where the police chief says COVID protests are ‘a nationwide insurrection driven by madness,’” host John King told viewers.

“Thousands of Canadians, you see the pictures there, protesting vaccine mandates,” he continued. “It started with the so-called ‘Freedom Convoy’ led by truckers protesting a new mandate requiring vaccines in order to enter the country.”

CNN Calls Freedom Convoy ‘Sedition’

CNN correspondent Paula Newton chimed in and, in case King’s comments weren’t crystal clear, reiterated the hyperbole.

“And just think of the language. I know it sounds familiar to you. A threat to democracy. An insurrection, sedition,” Newton added.

“I want to be clear things have quieted down a bit, but that does not take away from the basic truck-in, right, the sit-in that’s going in right in front of the national parliament.”

While the CNN talking heads are repeating phrases used by Canadian officials, their choice to cover those comments – rather than comments from the pro-side of the protest – reveals where their sympathies lie.

You can see where this is going, right? The media is going to use the term ‘insurrection’ at any sign of a protest that generates from a conservative or right-leaning cause.

The ‘Freedom Convoy’ is now an insurrection.

It’s only a matter of time before parents objecting to school mandates or curricula are called ‘insurrectionists.’ They’ve already been labeled by Democrats as domestic terrorists.

Like the race card, the term will be run into the ground so often by Democrats and the media it will no longer have any true meaning.

Military Action Against the Convoy

King and Newton were both motivated by comments made by the Ottawa police chief who referred to the trucker protests as ‘insurrection driven by madness.’

“This is a threat to our democracy. There’s a nationwide insurrection,” Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly said adding, “This is madness.”

Sloly, according to the Washington Post, was reflecting on comments made by Diane Deans, chair of the Ottawa Police Services Board, though he agrees with the sentiment.

It isn’t driven by madness. The protests are driven by focused and righteous opposition to government overreach.

Sloly had previously fretted over the protests getting out of control and hinted military action was being considered to quell the gathering.

“The range of illegal, dangerous and unacceptable activities is beyond the ability to list and the time that we have there today,” Sloly told a meeting of city councilors.

Contrary to his assessment, a New York Times report indicates the convoy has been “raucous but largely peaceful.”

There have been 20 arrests, but mostly for those trying to bring fuel to the truckers so they can heat their vehicles.

And thankfully, Trudeau has, for now, ruled out using the military.

Remember when the left wanted the workers of the world to unite?

That seems like a long time ago, now.
