Former Democrat and civil rights attorney Leo Terrell blasted Al Sharpton as a “professional shakedown artist” after the ‘reverend’ declared the indictment of former President Donald Trump to be “spiritual” payback.

Sharpton, whose closest foray into spirituality comes when he thanks God for still being employed despite being a well-known race hustler, made the comments at a New York University forum on Tuesday.

“I’m always looking for the spiritual interpretation of something,” he told those in attendance.

“And I think it’s very ironic that on … the 55th anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination, that the president that tried to turn back a lot of what King did is going to be arraigned in Manhattan Supreme Court by a Black DA.” (Trump did exactly nothing to “turn back” anything King did.)

Sharpton added that while it’s nice to “celebrate this moment of justice,” it’s also important to note that “the work is not done.”

Terrell Buries Sharpton Over His ‘Spiritual’ Trump Comments

Appearing with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Terrell absolutely buried Al Sharpton over his comments suggesting the indictment of Donald Trump was a “spiritual” event.

“Al Sharpton does not speak for a single black person in America,” he said. “Al Sharpton speaks for his wallet.”

He further critiqued the good reverend as well as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

“(Sharpton) is a professional shakedown artist,” Terrell seethed. “And for him to somehow analogize Alvin Bragg as some spiritual person for the black community. Alvin Bragg is a tool for white liberals going after Donald Trump.”

Terrell proceeded to reiterate his assertion that Sharpton is a shakedown artist with zero credibility.

Professional Shakedown Artist

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung issued his own reply to Al Sharpton’s comments in a statement to the Washington Times.

“Mr. Sharpton should get his own house in order before talking about something he has no clue about,” Cheung said.

Why would he have to get his house in order? Sharpton has never been held accountable for his controversial past, which besides the hustling also includes tax evasion.

In 2019, The Political Insider reported that Sharpton’s charity, the National Action Network, paid him over $1 million. He hustled a charity for $1 million. A charity. He’s a ‘reverend.’

At a House Judiciary Committee hearing on law enforcement that same year, Rep. Matt Gaetz brought up Sharpton’s history of racism and anti-Semitism simply by quoting him.

Sharpton has a rich and storied history of such rhetoric.

His entire career began when he raised his profile by completely fabricating a race crime, backing Tawana Brawley in falsely accusing four white men, including a state trooper and Steven Pagones, an Assistant District Attorney in Dutchess County, New York, of rape.

To be clear, there is no gray area here – Sharpton pushed the entire story, which was made up, destroying the lives of those accused.

Despite having been successfully sued by Pagones for defamation, Sharpton very recently doubled down on the Brawley hoax.

“I have no evidence that I was misled,” he told PBS host Margaret Hoover. Which is a lie.

A grand jury in 1988 concluded Brawley had not been abducted, assaulted, raped, or sodomized, as she and her advisers had claimed.

Also included in Sharpton’s race-hustler, anti-Semitic rap sheet:

  • Inciting a three-day riot in Crown Heights that resulted in the death of an innocent Hasidic Jewish student visiting from Australia.
  • Telling an audience member on the Morton Downey Jr. Show that “you a punk f*****.”
  • Started a protest at Freddie’s Fashion Mart that led one protester to attack the store, shoot several customers, and start a fire that killed seven employees.

Now he’s looked upon by MSNBC as a legitimate source of commentary on the day’s news.

Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
