Christine Ford Gives Bizarre Excuse For Contradictory Witnesses

One of the witnesses identified by Christine Ford was Leland Ingham Keyser, a friend who she says was at the party that Brett Kavanaugh allegedly attempted to sexually assault her at. There’s just one problem: Keyser (like every other witness identified) contradicted Ford’s account.

When the Washington Post ran a story on Ford’s allegations, they claimed that there were four other people at the party with Ford, all men. Keyser is a woman and denies the account… which the Post didn’t bother to mention in their initial report. The Post later included in their article the disclaimer that “Before her name became public, Ford told The Post she did not think Keyser would remember the party because nothing remarkable had happened there, as far as Keyser was aware.”

Under penalty of perjury, Keyser’s lawyer said: “Simply put, Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford.”

And what says, Ford? During her testimony, she offered up another explanation for Keyser’s contradictory memory: that “she’s sick.”

Prosecutor Rachel Mitchell asked, “Why did everyone you named as witness, including your best female friend Leland Keyser, say she had no memory of anything you alleged.” Ford replied, “She has health issues and needs to take care of herself.”

That’s one way to throw a lifelong friend under the bus, I suppose. Is Ford doesn’t think Keyser is credible because of “health issues” then why did she name her as a witness in the first place? If Keyser corroborated Ford, I don’t think we’d be hearing about her “health problems.”

And “health problems” was just one bizarre excuse from her testimony that didn’t make much sense. At another occasion, Ford completely contradicted past comments and excuses. While she cited a fear of flying for why testifying was delayed as long as it was, she testified under oath that she flies quite regularly. Ford also contradicted her prior claim that only her therapist was told about her allegations. She now says that she also told “beach friends” about them. Should we be surprised she did everything she could to not identify who these “beach friends” are?

While Ford came across as a sympathetic witness during her testimony, nothing changed after her testimony today. The fact remains that every single person Ford names as a witness to her account cannot corroborate her story, and that isn’t going to change. When Ford was asked how she knew it was Kavanaugh who assaulted her, she then went on a tangent and explained how the hippocampus works. I think the Senate would’ve preferred evidence.
