A Georgia man is making headlines for a tree that now stands 8 feet tall and is completely decorated to honor American military veterans.

Denver Peardon tells Fox News that what started as a tree that stood at just 16 inches tall has now expanded to its current height, and includes 184 photos of veterans.

The resident of Rydal, Georgia notes that he has personally met every veteran featured in the photos.

“It’s every emotion from sadness to joy. I knew some of them for 18 years before I lost them,” he told the outlet.

Christmas Tree Dedicated to Veterans

Peardon explained that the tree took 20 years to land on its current incarnation, which also includes nutcrackers at the base representing each branch of the military.

“They’re the guardian angels,” he explained.

Peardon celebrated the Christmas tree honoring veterans last month in a Facebook post.

“This evening as normal the Tree of Honor will be Going up!” he announced. “It’s covered from top to bottom with Veterans and currently serving heroes of this Nation.”

“Once she is up and standing proud she will be guarded by the Nutcrackers you see in the photos!” added Peardon.

Several commenters noted that the tree was a “beautiful tribute” to our nation’s veterans.

“I love this tree,” one person writes adding a personal note. “Daddy’s on it and I appreciate you honoring him Denver.”

Peardon helps operate a mobile military museum called The Military History Preservation Group with all funds raised at events honoring the veterans going to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Georgia man is also an author, having penned a book that focuses on veterans titled, “Voices from the Past.”

“Growing up in a small town in Georgia, I got to know a lot of Veterans that served in the War,” he writes. “I am older now and realize that the stories of their sacrifices need to be preserved for generations to come.”

The book is focused on an oral history of the Greatest Generation.

“Getting to go to the assisted living homes and sitting with these people I realized that a lot of what is in the History books is wrong and it’s gradually being removed altogether,” Peardon explained.

“That’s why it’s so important to get these stories out there and bring our History back, not someone’ s opinion but the stories from those who were there and the ones here that had to sacrifice so much to give us the freedoms that we have today.”
