Carson Rises in Polls; Americans Want Candidates Outside The Establishment

GOP front-runner Donald Trump is on top among Republicans in Iowa, but Dr. Ben Carson has zoomed up fast and the “Donald” might want to check his rear-view mirror.

On Saturday night, a new poll by the Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics was released showing Trump capturing 23% of the vote among likely Republican caucus goers in the critical early voting state, but Dr. Ben Carson is at 18%.

And when first and second place choices are combined, they are even at 32%.

Both Trump and Carson have benefited from anti-establishment sentiment among voters in the Hawkeye State. Neither man has held elected office, and both scored well among Christian conservatives, the poll found.

  • In 2001, Carson was named by CNN and Time magazine as “one of the nation’s 20 foremost physicians and scientists,” as well as being selected by the Library of Congress as one of 89 “living legends.”
  • In 2006, Dr. Carson received the Spingarn Medal, the highest honor bestowed by none other than the NAACP. One would hope that Hinton, as the former president of the Gloucester County Branch NAACP, would at least give Carson some props.
  • In 2008, Carson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In 2004, he was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve on the President’s Council on Bioethics.
  • Carson is an emeritus fellow of the Yale Corporation, the governing body of Yale University. He and his wife are co-founders of the Carson Scholars Fund, which has awarded more than 7,500 scholarships and has established 130 rooms in schools across the country. Carson has also authored several  books.

Scott Walker, once the GOP’s leader in Iowa, is tied for third with Ted Cruz at 8%. Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio are next at 6%, with Carly Fiorina (5%) in fifth place and Mike Huckabee and Rand Paul (4%) tied for sixth.

Both men have a lifetime of extraordinary accomplishments behind them. That’s what people are looking for. Strong problem-solving skills and unrivaled competence. Not political skills or empty rhetoric. These two men would make a tremendous team to make America great again.

As Paul Harvey used to say, “… and now you have the rest of the story.”

  1. I don’t know why people like him so much. He is anti-gun and is a little racist himself. Read between the lines, not what he says. For Gods sake people, lets get it right this time. We cannot survive more of the far left liberal crap.

  2. CORRECT. WE NEED OUR NEXT PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT TO HAVE INTELLIGENCE, DEMONSTRATED PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS AS WELL AS UNRIVALED SUCCESSFUL ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF A HIGH ORDER. BOTH MEN HAVE DISPLAYED WHAT IS NEEDED OVER MANY DECADES OUTSIDE OF POLITICS. BASED ON BOTH PARTY’S POSSIBLE, THE BEST SEEM TO BE TRUMP, CARSON AND CRUZ IN MY OPINION.

WE DESERVE THE BEST POSSIBLE CANDIDATES, NOT CAREER, POLITICAL HACKS WHO “FEED” US THE SAME, OLD POLICIES THAT DO NOT WORK AND TIRED, OLD RHETORIC.

THE MILITARY ASPECT AS WELL AS DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN POLICY CAN BE DRAFTED BY THE BEST INN EACH AREA FOR TRUMP TO ANALYZE. ADVISERS ARE BROUGHT ON TO ADVISE. HE WILL BRING IN TE VERY BEST WITH NEW APPROACHES.

  3. Carson is very anti-gun – see Glenn Becks interviews. Vote for Carson and you will lose your semi-automatic shotguns rifles etc. Ben says semiauto guns should only be allowed in very remote areas of the US. We don’t need another Obama – don’t trust him.

  4. I like Dr. Carson. I wish he had some military experience (since we have undertaken the role of “world policeman” ). He is very intelligent and seemingly possesses great integrity . We suffer from professional politicians in the public, private, and even the charitable sectors of society. Enough already.

    1. James. You don’t need military experience. Presidents have great military minds readily available. It is knowing the right people needed to get the job done, and then trusting them to do it. Biggest problem we’ve had are presidents who think they know more than the men who are on the front lines. How often has our military gotten a “Stand Down” commend from this administration, and how many have died because of this administration?

  5. Well he was born in the USA….he is not muslim, believes in GOD as a 7th Day Adventist. His views on illegals & the 2nd Amendment are good. At least his school/college records are available for us to see along with his birth certificate. I like both Trump & Carson. Believe they both are a just & rewarding great Presidential selections. Neither one are Political liars as are politicians of today are like the CIC & HC.

  6. It is obvious to most folks that insiders, or politicians are not doing the job that regular citizens are asking them to do.. So the outsiders who aren’t politicians who have the smarts to run are putting the kibosh on those do nothing but promise politicians. Our nation has too many lawyers , and career politicians in positions of power, and they have only continued to do just the opposite of what mainstream Americans have asked them to do. So Sic-em regular guys…..

    1. There is alot of truth to what is said about most of the politians, lawyers abound in congress, but there are some spoken words that we want to hear and trump and Dr. carson are saying them each in his own way. However each gentleman has the qualities and knowledge to admit they don’t have the answers to everythin, but at least have the were with all to most likely revise positions and persons in power to rid our country of all the life timers and then we need limits on service for all of congress. If as has been mentioned/passed after FDR, limiting the President to two terms so should the members of congress be the same. No cross over from senators or representives or vice versa, all should be, limited to same terms(2 yrs) and no other office held after terms up, no lobbying, no cross over into other Federal position , if new president wants them to serve country IE( Greenspan) ok but no life timer benefits to be expended , they all return to being civilians like the rest of us when time is up. Congress should be changed not tenured for life. Most are to interested in keeping their jobs not running the country for their benefit of themselves or croonies/friends. Persons appointed by president should be qualified for that position in the cabinet and have knowledge of requirements to perform the job. We need to combine alot of the Depts. and get rid of all new CZARS and newly created offices.
