On Wednesday, conservative pundit Candace Owens torched the governor of her home state after he announced what he called “the first pediatric fatality in Connecticut linked to COVID-19,” despite his spokesman admitting no one has actually confirmed what caused the death of the child.
The chief medical officer involved even told reporters that they “have not issued a final cause of death.”
Governor Says Child’s Death Due to Coronavirus Without Seemingly Having Proof
“It is with heartbreaking sadness today that we can confirm the first pediatric fatality in Connecticut linked to [COVID-19],” Democratic Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont announced on Twitter Wednesday. “A 6-week-old newborn from the Hartford area was brought unresponsive to a hospital late last week and could not be revived.”

“Testing confirmed last night that the newborn was COVID-19 positive,” the governor continued. “This is absolutely heartbreaking. We believe this is one of the youngest lives lost anywhere due to complications relating to COVID-19.”

“This is a virus that attacks our most fragile without mercy,” Lamont wrote. “This also stresses the importance of staying home and limiting exposure to other people. Your life and the lives of others could literally depend on it. Our prayers are with the family at this difficult time.”

Candace Owens Blasts Lamont
Owens has family members in Connecticut and went after Lamont for what she called “scaring mothers” through “partial information” and “political doublespeak.”
“‘Linked to Covid-19’. What the hell does that mean?” Owens wrote in a series of tweets in response to Lamont. “Did the newborn have pre-existing conditions— yes or no? Did the infant die OF coronavirus yes or no? STOP with this political doublespeak. Scaring mothers of newborns with partial information is SCUM BEHAVIOR.”

“‘Complicated by’ ‘Linked to’, has anybody else realized that ALL of these death announcements provide partial information?” Owens wrote in another post. “If you are going to start using the death of infants to scare people into doing what you want, you better start providing FULL information, [Gov. Lamont].”

“Both of my sisters, who live in a Connecticut, gave birth for the first time in these past 3 [coronavirus] weeks,” Owens added, “What I am demanding, is that [Gov. Lamont] be more responsible and tell mothers the FULL picture, so as not to inspire undue mass panic.”

“Two things can be true at once: the [coronavirus] can be real, and corrupt politicians like [Gov. Lamont] and [Gov. Andrew Cuomo] can be lying to extract money from the federal government because their socialist-run states are out of money,” she added in another post later. “Both are true.”
