Anti-Gun Parkland Survivor Chickens Out of Debate With Pro-Gun Student

Pro-Second Amendment Parkland survivor Kyle Kashuv has finally been getting some of the airtime he deserves, even though it’s been mostly relegated to Fox News. His anti-gun peers, meanwhile, seem to have been on every network out there (including Fox).

Kashuv reached out to one of the school’s anti-gun classmates, Cameron Kasky, regarding a debate on Fox News. Kasky is one of the “March for our Lives” organizers – the one who told Marco Rubio at a CNN town hall that “It’s hard to look at you and not feel like I’m looking down the barrel of an AR-15.” So, not the most reasonable kid. Kashuv had previously asked David Hogg to debate while the two were in Washington, D.C., and received no response.

After a number of tweets back and forth, including one where Kasky mocks Fox News, despite having just had a softball interview there on Chris Wallace’s show, the two reached an agreement to debate. And after agreeing to a debate, Kasky found an excuse to get out of it.

According to Fox News:

Kasky tweeted Monday night that he won’t debate Kashuv, a pro-Second Amendment voice, following a tweet Kashuv seemingly disapproved of.

“Kyle, I’ve enjoyed my discussion about gun laws with you so far, but after seeing this, I think I’m out. For personal reasons,” Kasky said, adding that while he “disagree[s] on certain policies with some family members of some victims,” he would “never go after them, especially not like this. This is low.”

Kashuv’s tweet in question was a response to Jesse Guttenberg, a student at Stoneman Douglas whose sister, 14-year-old Jaime, was fatally shot by Nikolas Cruz last month.

“Clear backpacks are not the answer,” Guttenberg stated. “Anyone can sneak a knife into school by putting it into a folder or a gun by hiding it in their pants.”

Kashuv says he didn’t realize the identity of the person he was replying to.

Others though thought differently of the tweet. After all, what did Kashuv do wrong? Ask a question?

What do you think? Was he deeply offended by Kashuv’s tweet, or was he just looking for an excuse to bow out of the debate Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below!
