CNN Gives 2 Minutes of Airtime to Evidence Exonerating Kavanaugh

It’s no secret that the media leans far to the left politically. Only seven percent of journalists are Republicans, and that reflects in the coverage of nearly every major news outlet. While the bias infects all coverage, it’s been particularly pronounced in coverage of Trump, where over 90% of the coverage of his administration has been negative, making it impossible for the casual observer to accurately perceive political reality.

That’s been the case too in coverage of the flimsy sexual misconduct allegations being levied against Brett Kavanaugh. Republicans haven’t tried to silence the accuser Christine Ford at all. Susan Collins, Bob Corker, Jeff Flake, Lindsey Graham, and Lisa Murkowski are among those who have called for Ford to testify before a vote, which Ford initially offered to do, before walking that back and demanding an FBI investigation first (which is out of their jurisdiction). The only witnesses identified by Ford have denied her allegations, and even Diane Feinstein is expressing doubts about her allegations now.

Meanwhile, it’s Democrats that have been doing everything they can to prevent Ford from testifying. Why? Because demanding an FBI investigation would take months, pushing back Kavanaugh’s confirmation indefinitely (and past the midterms at a minimum).  Democrats who aren’t actually interested in the truth of the allegations against Kavanaugh. After all, if Democrats truly were concerned about claims of abuse, they wouldn’t be ignoring the abusers in their own Party, such as DNC Chair Keith Ellison (who is ironically among those calling to delay Kavanaugh’s confirmation for doing less than he’s been accused of).

Despite the fact that Republicans are bending over backward to give Ford the opportunity to speak and its Democrats obstructing them, the CNN is pushing the opposite narrative. According to a new study from the Media Research Center: “Yesterday from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern, CNN spent 3 hours and 23 minutes talking about the Kavanaugh controversy, but only about eight minutes of that were devoted to passing along these confirmations of Kavanaugh’s denial. During ten hours of on-air programming on Wednesday, CNN gave a mere five minutes to Mark Judge’s statement [denying that Kavanaugh abused Ford], half of it (2 minutes, 34 seconds) during their little-watched 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Eastern hours.”

And the two and a half minutes of honest coverage was immediately followed up with a dismissal by the hosts, who said that “What is his credibility in saying he didn’t see this kind of behavior if he has written extensively about become blackout drunk with his friends — blackout drunk with his friends.”

Brett Kavanaugh accuser CNN coverage

Democrats say that every accuser deserves to be heard – so why don’t they want Ford to speak before the Senate? Because for them, the truth of the allegations is only secondary. Obstruction is the real goal.
