Trump Should Build The Wall But This Spending Bill Is Terrible

Before I even get started, has anyone noticed that the Democrats who are running for President voted “NO” on this spending bill that President Trump signed? They will flip this around on Trump and make the President look like the irresponsible one for signing a horrible bill – just you wait and see.

The number one issue for our country is stopping illegal immigration. That’s followed by stopping drug smugglers and child traffickers at the southern border. This bill, however, is not the way to do it.

We all know and understand immigrants built America. That is a fact. But, the immigrants coming here wanted to build up the nation rather than live off of it. Admittedly, some of the people coming here, even illegally, are of the same ilk. They want to become Americans, but a growing segment of them just want jobs or access to the generous welfare system we have. After all, we have the richest poor in the world.

Brandon Darby of Breitbart, who has spent the last 3-4 years at the border, has tried to inform everyone that this bill will allow Texas counties to veto the building of the wall. Law enforcement in those counties have been arrested and jailed for taking bribes, so this is a real danger.

Fox News’ Tomi Lahren tweeted if President Trump signed this bill, he wouldn’t win in 2020. Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter have come out against the signing on the bill also.

The bill is bad people. Bad.

A couple of weeks ago, during a hearing on the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Mo Brooks asked John Rood, Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, whether or not there was another way to take care of the border situation without Congress or declaring a national emergency and it went like this:

BROOKS: Does 10 U.S.C. § 284 as you understand it, require the declaration of a national emergency before it is implemented?

ROOD: No.

BROOKS: It does not?

ROOD: No.

BROOKS: Has President Trump, to your knowledge, ever used 10 U.S.C § 284 to direct the military to build the wall that is necessary for border security?

ROOD: No, not to my knowledge, Congressman.

BROOKS: If President Trump were to direct the Pentagon and the United States military pursuant to 10 U.S.C § 284 to build such barriers as are necessary to secure our southern border from drug trafficking and international crime cartels would the United States military obey that order?

ROOD: If we judge it to be a lawful order, yes sir. And I assume it would be.

Why would so many Republicans agree to vote “Yea” on this bill when this was available? In the House, 87 Republicans voted for it while 109 voted against it. House Democrats were 213 in favor and 19 against. In the Senate, 41 Republicans voted “Yea” and only 11 voted “Nay.” Democrat Senators split 40 “Yea” and 5 “Nay.”

Like I said earlier, it is interesting that the Democrat senators who voted “Nay” included Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Corey Booker, and Kirsten Gillibrand. You can tell by the vote split that the bill favors the Democrats heavily.

Congress is worthless, and while I do blame them, however, it’s the job of the President to work on his agenda and get people on his side. The bottom line is he, and a GOP Congress, didn’t keep their promises.

At some point, it’s time to hold our president accountable. I voted for him and defend him on many issues but this spending bill is a dead weight. It will hurt him in the end, and what’s worse, it will hurt America.

No amount of lipstick you can put on this pig will pretty this one up.

The national emergency is a bad idea. It will be held up in the courts too long. The 2020 election will be here before you know it and even if the courts do finally approve it, nothing will be done with those additional funds before the election.

Call me cautious, but I don’t trust the courts to rule correctly or promptly. And if it is still tied up in the courts, Trump could lose in 2020. And then, of course, the precedent is set, and a Democrat president can declare climate change a national emergency and implement the “Green New Deal” garbage.

What I don’t understand is why this got so little coverage on big outlets, particularly on Fox News. Fox knows that the President watches. They knew about these provisions since articles and tweets about them are all over social media.

I get the sinking feeling that there’s a contingent in the GOP that knows about these provisions and actually approves of them. It sounds like tinfoil hat stuff, but I don’t know of any other reason for them to not be up in arms.

I hope I am wrong but I’ve seen the bill so how do we square that one?
