Poll Shows Twice as Many Blacks Support Deportation than Oppose it

blacks support deporting illegal immigrants

Since the election of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1932, African-Americans have been a reliable voting block for the Democratic Party. In only one of the past four Presidential elections did the Republican nominee ever top 10% of the black vote, and President Trump got 8%. It’s a voting block that Democrats have taken for granted, but many of the individual issues that they’re championing into midterms betray their base.

In trying to beef up the “Trump is Hitler” narrative, liberals have been trying to portray those in immigration enforcement like they’re Trump’s personal Gestapo. Immigration enforcement has long existed to enforce laws that the majority of voters agree with, so scapegoating them is a bizarre tactic. It’s also a bit odd to see liberals portraying immigration enforcement as racist against Hispanics when half of border patrol agents are Hispanic.

But back to the point. According to the Daily Wire: “a CBS News/YouGov poll found that a full 40% of black Americans feel that illegal immigrant families should be deported back to their country of origin. Compare that to just 20% of black Americans who believe that detained illegal immigrant families should be released while they await an asylum hearing, for which many do not return.” By contrast, only  20% of white Americans agree with “Catch and Release.”

For as much as the Left would like to turn everything into a race issue, illegal immigration is not one. Every country defends their borders…. including Mexico, which deports more Central American illegals than we do in the U.S. Just this year, Mexico has more than doubled the number of Central American illegals they’re deporting. (RELATED: Mexico Has More Than Doubled Deportations Of Central Americans So Far This Year).

Not only does opposition to illegal immigration transcend racial lines, it used to be a bipartisan issue. Only in the age of Trump has support for borders become a “right-wing (or as the media always reports it, “far right”) position.

And it’s not minorities that the Left’s rhetoric is alienating. According to a report in The Guardian: “While millennials still prefer the Democratic party over the Republicans, that support is tanking. In just two years, it dropped sharply from 55% to 46%.” And where did they go? Of the nine percentage point decline, two-thirds, or six percentage points, moved to the Right. When it comes to white male millennials, Democrats polled in that Demographic 12 percentage points above Republicans in 2016. Just two years later, white male millennials favor Republicans by 11 percentage points, a staggering 23 point move.

And for that, the Left can thank their own race-baiting.

Despite the media’s best efforts, even African American voters, who are typically strong allies of the Democrat Party, are backing the President’s immigration policies, which is bad news for the left come November.
