Bill O’Reilly to Return to Fox News on “Hannity” Tonight

Since his departure from Fox, Bill O’Reilly has maintained an active social media presence, keeping in touch with his fan base mainly through Facebook. He’s been communicating his views in the form of the free podcast “No Spin News.” He had an offer for a show at the independent conservative network One America News, but a deal feel through.

We reported earlier this week that Sean Hannity had O’Reilly on his radio show. Hannity expressed a desire to see the former Fox host come back “home.” During a segment devoted to O’Reilly’s new book “Killing England” Hannity told him: “I think you should come back [to Fox].”

“I’m at the beach every day. You want to bring me back into the swamp?” O’Reilly asked.

“I think you want back in the swamp, and I think you’d love it back in the swamp,” replied Hannity. “I know your fans would like you back on, too, and there’s not a day that goes by that people don’t ask me, ‘How’s O’Reilly doing? When is he coming back?’”

“Would you consider at some date coming back to Fox?” Hannity finally asked.

“I don’t know,” O’Reilly replied. “I have to get this legal stuff done. I have to get this investigation done.”

During the interview, O’Reilly said that he was continuing to fight what he described as the “conspiracy” that got him fired from Fox in the first place. One of the O’Reilly accusers, for instance, has a history of making false statements to police.

That was all during Hannity’s radio show – but O’Reilly will be back on his former home turf, Fox News, as a guest tonight. This will be his first appearance on the network since he left.

He’s officially on to promote “Killing England,” and “the news of the day,” but who knows what else the two could discuss. It certainly sets up an awkward situation for Fox, especially given the nature of his departure, and the tension that must exist between the two.

We’ll have to see what happens, but I don’t think it would be a stretch to expect that Hannity’s ratings are significantly above average tonight thanks to the guest appearance. Maybe that’ll serve as a sign to Fox that firing O’Reilly wasn’t such a great idea.
