Liberal comedian Bill Maher, who has made a good living attacking Republicans and conservatives, went after those he might be a bit more politically aligned with Friday, calling out his fellow liberals and accusing them of “progressophobia.”
Maher went on to explain that the term was invented by psychologist Steven Pinker to describe liberals and other progressive thinkers who are unable to perceive any forward movement in America on social and cultural issues.
Maher continued to explain with this comparison, “It’s like situational blindness, only what you can’t see is that your dorm in 2021 is better than the South before the Civil War.”
If you think America is more racist now than ever, more sexist than before women could vote and more homophobic than when blow jobs were a felony, you have #Progressophobia and you should adjust your mask because its covering your eyes. #BY pic.twitter.com/qFUFwO3eNJ

Maher Calls Out His Own
Maher continued brought up many of the cultural issues that have seen a great deal of change in the last century.
He talked about the LGBT movement, ironically during Gay Pride Month. Maher added, “The chant from gay protesters used to be ‘We’re here, we’re queer, get used to it.’ Well, we did. This is Pride month and it’s not even a big deal anymore. Thirty days of parades and festivals celebrating a cause that was once so divisive, Ellen had to pretend to be straight.”
Maher also cited a Gallup poll from 1958, which showed only four percent of Americans supported interracial marriage. He mentioned that Gallup stopped polling the question in 1987 because it had become so common.
Maher also talked about issues such as the legalization of marijuana, and bullying. He pointed out that today, in just under half of the country, it is legal to smoke pot recreationally, and such things like bullying someone because they look different has become completely unacceptable.
I think Bill Maher is privately starting to wake up to the fact that “his party” has been taken over by cultural Marxists who are in the process politically & culturally dismantling everything idea & principle that makes this nation “America”
I think it’s scaring him

Are Liberals Defeating Their Own Purpose?
Bill Maher pointed out that in the rush to be “woke,” liberals and progressives are really defeating the purpose of what they want to achieve.
He cited a recent comment from comedian Kevin Hart as an example of refusing to acknowledge any progress in American society.
Hart recently told the New York Times, that, “You’re witnessing White power and White privilege at an all-time high.” Outside of the fact that Kevin Hart is a man who makes millions of dollars to make movies, Maher correctly put his comments up against the context of American history:
“Higher than a century ago — the year of the Tulsa race massacre? Higher than the years when the KKK rode unchecked and Jim Crow went unchallenged? Higher than the 1960s when the Supremes and Willie Mays still couldn’t stay in the same hotel as the White people they were working with? Higher than slavery? And I mean actual slavery, not ‘Prince doesn’t like his record contract’ slavery.”

‘New Dating Of Human Events For Millennials And Gen Z: “B.Y.” (Before You)’
Maher also specifically had a message for woke millennials and Gen-Zers, who seem to think that nothing in human history was as bad as before they were born.
“Because here’s the thing, kids: There actually was a world before you got here.” The fact that they have not been taught any history however, might have some bearing on their perspective.
The host of “Real Time With Bill Maher” acknowledged that racism is still with us. He cited the example of how Minneapolis Police did not support the actions of former police officer Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd.
Maher concluded, “It’s not a sin, and it’s certainly not inaccurate, to say we’ve come a long way, baby. Not mission accomplished, just a long way.”
He is as left as left can go, however watching him crush modern progressive wokeness is awesome.
