Flashback: That Time Bill Clinton Used the SOTU to Call Out Illegals As Job-Stealing Lawbreakers

Rest assured that when President Trump addresses illegal immigration at the State of the Union (SOTU) address on Tuesday, it will immediately be chastised by Democrats and the media as the single most racist thing they’ve ever heard in their godforsaken lives.

Trump just left the door wide open for a path to legalization for 1.8 million illegals, well above the estimated 800,000 ‘dreamers’ who have been bandied about in the media. A compromise in exchange for border security and funding for the wall.

And they STILL call him a racist.

Illinois Democrat Luis Gutierrez responded to the President’s proposal by likening it to a middle finger pointed at a Latino community he is supposedly suspicious of.

“It would be far cheaper to erect a 50-foot concrete statue of a middle finger and point it towards Latin America,” he wrote. “Both a wall and the statue would be equally offensive and equally ineffective and both would express Trump’s deeply held suspicion of Latinos.”

So it stands to reason no matter what he does, President Trump will be branded a racist. So why bother compromising with illegal immigrant supporters? Why not just tell them you’re going to address the problem of illegal immigration in the exact same manner former President Bill Clinton once proposed?

In a media mailing earlier today, the Republican National Committee offered what they called a “preview” of the President’s State of the Union address guaranteed to “receive a bipartisan standing ovation.”

The reality is that the excerpt they offered for preview was a portion of the SOTU from Clinton’s speech in 1995.

“All Americans, not only in the States most heavily affected but in every place in this country, are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country,” Clinton said. “The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers.”

Whoa … did he really say that foreigners are invading our country and stealing our jobs? Why yes, yes he did.

He went on to boast of “aggressively” securing our borders, “deporting … criminal aliens,” and stripping welfare benefits from illegals – all ideas Republicans, conservatives, and the President would gladly get behind. But they’re all ideas that if suggested, are immediately decried as racist in today’s warped liberal world.

“We are a nation of immigrants,” Clinton concluded. “But we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it.”

Here, here!

President Trump should read these words verbatim at the SOTU, then sit back and laugh at the hypocrisy as Democrats clamor to denounce him as xenophobic, a monster, and a racist.

This may be the only time we encourage President Trump to be just like Bill Clinton.
