President Joe Biden, when asked by a reporter how long he thinks it’d be fair for Americans to pay higher gas prices due to the war in Ukraine, said: “As long as it takes.”

White House correspondent for The New York Times, Jim Tankersley, queried the President on the administration’s plan to cap the price of Russian oil in world markets, asking if such a move would bring down prices.

Tankersley pointed out that the Russian invasion of Ukraine has pushed gas prices up with some analysts suggesting oil could go as high as $200/barrel.

“How long is it fair to expect American drivers and drivers around the world to pay that premium for this war?” he asked.

“As long as it takes so Russia cannot, in fact, defeat Ukraine and move beyond Ukraine,” Biden replied.

The event was a press conference wrapping up the President’s NATO summit.

Biden: Americans Will Pay Higher Gas Prices ‘As Long As it Takes’

A Times report from last week indicates most analysts believe the war in Ukraine will last several months, with some suggesting “a back and forth that could stretch for months or even years.”

Skeptical readers will recall that the U.S. war in Afghanistan last 20 years.

So it’s less than reassuring to hear President Biden say these restrictions on Russian oil and the effort to defend Ukraine and the subsequent higher gas prices being predicted will be around “as long as it takes.”

The President continued to blame Russia for higher gas prices, despite the sharp upward trajectory they were on long before the invasion. He even channeled his inner Jan Brady in pointing the finger.

Essentially, with a weak and feeble President, Biden is admitting Vladimir Putin is successfully sending gas prices into orbit and successfully starving the United States of food sources and he has no idea or means to stop him.

We went from having a leader of the free world who kept Putin in check to Vlad’s little lapdog.

Another $800 Million For Ukraine

During the NATO press conference, President Biden also let slip that the United States is going to be providing Ukraine with another $800 million in aid.

He mentioned it in response to a question about the pacing of assistance following Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s assessment that the war needs to end before winter.

I mean, that is just an eloquent elucidation that will rank alongside such famous presidential orations as the Gettysburg Address and Ronald Reagan’s ‘tear down this wall’ speech.

And what’s another $800 million when we’ve already sent Ukraine over $54 billion in aid? Right?

Still, it makes one wonder why celebrities and actors have decided to host a star-studded spectacle set to be aired in prime time aimed at raising funds for Ukraine.

Ukraine gets billions plus a celebrity fundraiser while Americans get $100+ fillups at the gas station and a grocery bill that resembles the MSRP of a newly purchased vehicle.

But hey, be happy with your lentils, Bloomberg News tells us.

Somebody needs to make t-shirts that say ‘Ukraine got $54 billion and all I got were these stupid lentils.’

Still, the President expressed optimism that the war wouldn’t rage ever onward with no ending in sight.

“I hope it ends sooner than later,” Biden said of the war.

Not exactly a solid determination as to when Americans can expect gas prices to go down.

Earlier in the press conference, the President was asked to comment on G7 leaders pledging to support Ukraine “for as long as it takes.”

“I’m wondering if you would explain what that means to the American people — ‘for as long as it takes,'” prompted an Associated Press reporter.

“Does it mean indefinite support from the United States for Ukraine?” she continued. “Or will there come a time when you have to say to President Zelenskyy that the United States cannot support his country any longer?”

Biden replied, “We are going to support Ukraine as long as it takes.”

Sounds like a ‘forever war’ to me. Not just in Ukraine, but against the U.S. economy.

Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
