Biden Blasts Trump’s Foreign Policy, Then Takes Credit for Beating ISIS

During Tuesday night’s Democratic presidential debate, candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden took credit for helping defeat ISIS, but only after attacking President Donald Trump’s foreign policy in the Middle East.

Biden Makes False Claim About Defeating ISIS

“We have lost our standing in [the Middle East],” Biden said at the debate in Des Moines, Iowa, criticizing Trump.

“We have lost the support of our allies.”

Then not long after, Biden took credit for defeating ISIS while he served as vice president under President Barack Obama.

“I was part of the coalition that put together 68 countries to deal with stateless terror as well as failed states,” Biden said. “Not us alone, 68 other countries.

“That’s how we were able to defeat and end the caliphate for ISIS,” he added. “They’ll come back if we do not deal with them and we do not have someone who can bring together the rest of the world to go with us.”

ISIS Rose Under Obama-Biden

Let’s just say it’s pretty ridiculous for Biden to claim he was responsible for ISIS’s demise.

In fact, it was under the Obama administration that this terrorist group gained a foothold in the region. Many will recall that President Obama even dismissed ISIS in January 2014 as the “JV team.”

A U.S.-led coalition did succeed while Obama was president in regaining some territory that the Islamic State group had seized, but as ABC News reported in 2016, the terrorist organization still held considerable parts of both Iraq and Syria.

Elizabeth Harrington of the Republican National Committees wrote on Twitter, “Obama-Biden left the caliphate the size of Sri Lanka.”

There were also the ISIS -inspired terror attacks that took place around the world while Biden was vice president, including the tragic Paris attacks in 2015.

Thank You President Trump

ISIS’s height of power occurred while Obama and Biden were in charge, yet the group was almost completely defeated under President Trump.

“We defeated and took over 100 percent of the ISIS caliphate,” Trump said in October, as reported by RealClearPolitics. “Everybody said that was going to be an impossible thing to do. I did it, and I did it quickly because we have a great military now.”

Later that month, Trump announced that U.S. forces had killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Today the threat from ISIS is significantly less than it was in 2014.

And this fact has absolutely nothing to do with Barack Obama or Joe Biden.
