After Tuesday’s tenth Democrat presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders continued to show love for Cuba’s brutal communist regime, repeating his claim that good things can happen under a dictator.

“On this issue of the potential political peril you and Democrats could suffer in Florida, Congresswoman Donna Shalala said come on down to Miami and meet with the people who have been affected by his regime,” CBS News’ Ed O’Keefe said. “Would you be willing to do that?”
“Cuba is a dictatorship, I’ve said that 8 million times,” Sanders said. “But that does not mean to say, as Obama pointed out, that even under a dictatorship you can teach people to read and to write. That you can provide health care to all people.”

Astounding. Sanders will not stop equivocating and whitewashing the horrors of socialist regimes like the Castros in Cuba.

What does Bernie think those ex-Cubans in Florida, so many of whom fled Castro’s totalitarian government, are going to think about his seeming affection for the dictator?
Sanders Warmness for Brutal Socialist Dictators
As if being an open socialist wasn’t bad enough, Sanders continues to show a certain warmth toward tyrannical world leaders most of us had condemned long ago. This is nothing new for old time communists, who were so wrapped up in seeing socialism succeed in countries like Cuba and the former Soviet Union, that they were willing to look past the barbarity of these regimes.
And there is a correlation between socialism and the government inflicted violence. When individual rights go out the window, and citizens are forced to do thing all in the name of a government-defined “common good,” some of those citizens are bound to resist.

That’s where the violence comes in. Once a new radical government gets used to the gore, they inevitably continue to use torture and violence as a governance tool, as so many poor souls locked up in mid-twentieth century Siberia could attest to.

The Bernie Sanders phenomenon is only possible because so many Americans don’t know history.
It is disturbing that any high profile political figure in the United States could have such a rosy perception of communist regimes in this day and age. It’s even scarier that he’s the top presidential candidate for his party.
