Bernie Sanders Says It Might Be Time to Begin Impeachment Proceedings for Trump

Appearing on CNN Wednesday, 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders said it might be time for the House Judiciary Committee to proceed with impeachment against President Donald Trump.

Sanders said, “To be very honest with you, Jake, I am not sure that this president may not want to be impeached,” Sanders said on CNN’s “The Lead.”

“He may think that it works for him politically,” he continued. “I don’t know that, but it wouldn’t shock me.”

“I think he is a 100% political animal,” Sanders said. “Doesn’t spend a whole lot of time worrying about health care or education, certainly not about climate change. So I don’t know what goes on in his mind.”

Then Sanders said:

“But I think if he continues to not understand the Constitution of the United States, the separation of powers, the fact that the Congress has every right to subpoena, and it is the job of the administration to attend the hearings that the Congress is calling, if he doesn’t understand that, it may well be time for an impeachment inquiry to begin. Where the Judiciary Committee begins to determine whether or not there are grounds for impeachment.”

Sanders calling for Trump’s impeachment is not surprising. As a crowded field of 2020 Democrats continue to do everything they can to distinguish themselves, each will try any stunt possible to get a leg up on the competition.

What better way than to call for the impeachment of the man each of them are trying to run against?

Whether this actually works or not for the Democratic candidates will remain to be seen, but we do know this: The Mueller Report found no crimes committed, no need for further indictments and no obstruction of justice. All Democrats have done since is try to weave a web of misdeeds that the special counsel himself did not find.

If Democrats did manage to impeach President Trump, what would they even talk about?

Rest assured they would make up something. They always do.
