Virginia Democrats must feel genuinely threatened by Republican Ed Gillespie’s candidacy for governor, and for good reason. Democrats held 29 governorships when Barack Obama took office, and only 16 by the time he left. The Party has its lowest number of governors since the 1920s, and only continued to decline when West Virginia’s Governor Jim Justice switched parties to become a Republican in August.
I guess that even when Democrats aren’t running, they’re losing!
The first notable attack against Gillespie came last week in an ad released by the Latino Victory Fund, which they initially stood by, but then later removed. The ad begins by depicting a white man in a pick-up truck with a Confederate battle flag mounted in its bed, a Gadsden Flag (“Don’t Tread on Me”) license plate, and, of course, an Ed Gillespie bumper sticker. A group of young minority children (complete with a girl in a hijab) actually run for their lives from the man in the truck.

It wasn’t the disgusting distastefulness that led them to eventually remove the ad – it was the NYC terror attack, which included a truck.
Current Virginia Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam not only refused to denounce the ad, but instead embraced it. He’s not the only Democrat insider pushing such rhetoric. According to the Washington Free Beacon, “Barbara Favola, a Democratic state senator who represents Arlington, Va., castigated Virginia’s Republican candidates and their supporters on Wednesday night, saying ‘they’re evil’ and ‘we’re the good guys.'”
She continued: “‘What my colleagues didn’t really tell you is how dangerous it will be if the other side wins. They’re evil, we’re the good guys,’ Favola said, as the room erupted with laughter, applause and cheers.”
Who knew American politics was some sort of cosmic battle?
And, of course, Northam didn’t quite denounce her comments.
So I told Northam about the uproar over the "they're evil" comment about Republicans. He praised bipartisanship, but didn't quite denounce pic.twitter.com/NVe4hXOpIt

It truly goes to illustrate the divide between Right and Left in the country. We think they’re wrong – they think we’re evil.
