Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Tuesday that President Donald Trump shouldn’t “be making any large political decisions when the president is in such a perilous medical state.”
Ocasio-Cortez was citing the President’s decision to call off coronavirus relief talks.
"I don’t think that we should be making any large political decisions when the president is in such a perilous medical state. He is still receiving interventions and treatments and we’re in the middle of talking about and making dramatic decisions about…COVID stimulus." – @AOC pic.twitter.com/I5Il9uZUWb

AOC: ‘The President Is Not In A Good Condition’
Ocasio-Cortez said, “[T]he president is not in a good condition. He just was diagnosed with COVID.”
The self-described socialist and Democratic congresswoman seemed to think President Trump’s recent diagnosis should disqualify him from rational judgment.
“His oxygen levels were in perilously low areas over the weekend, that were extremely concerning, and then we’re supposed to believe that everything is absolutely fine right now when we were receiving conflicting medical reports from both the White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and some of the physicians that we’re hearing at Walter Reed,” she continued.
.@AOC on @maddow: If Trump walks away from passing a stimulus “we are staring down the barrel of one of largest mass evictions in American history.”

Aren’t most decisions made by a sitting presidents considered “large?” Does AOC believe Donald Trump should effectively stop being president due to contracting COVID-19?
Presidents ranging from John F. Kennedy to Ronald Reagan to Dwight Eisenhower and more suffered ailments during their tenure. None of them shirked their presidential duties as a result.
You don’t stop being president just because you catch a virus. Especially a respiratory virus.
Ocasio-Cortez is grasping for straws here.
AOC Wants You To Think President Trump Is Incapable Of Governing
“Now, I don’t think that we should be making any large political decisions when the president is in such a perilous medical state,” she added.
“He is still receiving interventions and treatments, and we’re in the middle of talking about and making dramatic decisions about what is happening with the COVID stimulus,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
The freshman congresswoman appears to believe that Trump’s condition renders him incapable of governing.
She describes Trump’s condition as “perilous”. Yet the world just watched him leave Walter Reed and stand on the White House balcony looking surprisingly healthy and strong.

Of course, she didn’t stop there.
AOC added, “Not only that, but he’s also directly conflicting himself today. He retweeted the Federal [Reserve] Chairman Jerome Powell, which is saying that Congress cannot do enough when it comes to critical economic indicators like inflation, when it looks at — when we’re looking at joblessness.”
“There is — the Fed is basically telling us that there is no program too big that we could authorize, we cannot effectively spend enough right now, and the president retweeted that while also saying that he’s going to walk away from relief,” Ocasio-Cortez finished.
This is a perpetual Democratic foe of our Republican president trying to rationalize why he shouldn’t be fulfilling the role the American people elected him for.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s argument is baseless and a futile attempt to block President Trump from doing his part to make this country great.
But perhaps she deserves points for partisan creativity – however unjustified.
